Gettin' Skunk2 stage 2 Cams...What ECU should I run???
I plan on getting stage 2 cams from skunk, but I am still thinking about what ecu chip I should get. I think I'm in a toss up between a jdm ITR ecu or a skunk2 chipped ecu. I have heard that the skunk program runs really rich and being that I live no where close to a dyno where I could tune it in more with a vafc then I am kind of going for the easist route as far as tuning goes. In other words I don't want to run into any problems with one of these for my set up.

I think the easiest way to go would to get hondata and tune it...think about it...$250 to chip your ecu and then $300 for a VAFC...
Now Hondata uses your ecu and its better than a vafc all in one...for $295....

Well yeah I did think about Hondata, but like I said I have no way of tuning my car except on the street. Plus with hondata, wouldn't I have to get the complete package so I would be able to tune and chip my own ecu. I'm still not quite understanding how the stages of hondata works.
I just want an ecu that would require little tuning on my part but still have good gains.

I thought it's only the stage 3's that have this problem.

I hope that you're getting the valve springs and all that relateed stuff too. My advice, if you plan to do more work get Hondata. Find a shop to tune everything. Proper tuning is the best no mater what.

I just hear of A LOT of people that come on this board and say that the skunks ate their entire valvetrain (regardless of spec of cam). I don't usually accept rumors, but when you hear something enough, that is proof for me that its happening. Like crowers snapping.......
ya mang you need valvetrain with the skunk stage 2's
the skunks stage 2's and 3's are just like JUN 3's and Toda spec B and C's
you need the whole shabang if your gonna run those...
not for someone who can't make it to a dyno

I have already prepared for that, when I sent my head off to PYR I had them install Type R intake valves, dual valve springs, Ti retainers and new valve seals. So my head is good to go the only thing I may need is just more compression.
What valve springs are you running ? You will need Skunk2, Portflow, or other aftermarket valve springs-stock Type-R springs not up to the task.
They are an aftermarket valve spring but can't remember the name. I'm emailing Peter so I can find out. He said they can run JUN3's with no problems and can rev to about 9600rpms. So I know they are up to task since that is why I got them and peter said he has no problems with any cams.
About the ECU, so you think I should just go with the skunk2 chip since they are made for the cams. But I see alot of R guys with these cams stages 1 and 2 and they are getting good numbers with their stock ecu.
