2002 Troubleshooting issues - P codes included.
Hi guys. So my Honda Civic 2002 EX (1.7L L4 SOHC 16V):
Here's the deal:
Engine light is on. This morning on my way to work the temperature gauge was rising fairly quick (almost to the top) went down to just below half way, and up again until it finally went back to the half way mark and stayed there. This evening on my way home it did it only once, but I am still concerned so I got the codes pulled and I'm just hoping this is something I can repair myself because I'm a student and have **** for money (excuse my language).
Here is the order they came through in the reader:
P1456 - Evaporative emissions (EVAP) control system leakage (fuel tank system)
P1298 - Electric load detector (ELD) circuit high voltage.
I checked my gas cap, it was on tight since the last time I filled it (before I left town).
Is there an easy way to check and see what might be causing the ELD high voltage? What do you all recommend?
One last thing - When I turn off the car it ends kind of rough/with a jerk. I hope that makes sense I'm not sure how else to explain it.
Thanks,
Seth

P1456 is common, at least here in Canada it is, you likely have a Shut Valve in the evap system that needs to be replaced.
and P1298, have it reset and hope it was a intermittant problem.
