Are the Sylvania Silverstars the best to go with, that look like HID's?

If you're just looking for something that matches the 4300K color of OEM HID's, you'll want some sort of bulb with a light blue tint. I had some Hella "xenon" bulbs that were a little whiter than normal halogen, but they were still too yellow. Output will suffer when the bulbs are coated, so keep that in mind.

If you want some bulbs that actually perform, try some 9011 Toshiba HIR's. I have a set in my '97 CL and they outperform everything else that I've tried. They aren't bright white like HID's, but they put out almost 500 more lumens than the stock 9005's.

don't really care about the color, just thought that these were the best. I just want some that won't burn up my wiring and will be brighter. I just cleaned the headlight lens, but it is still a little weak, so want something brighter. Will try your suggestion.

HIR's is what you're looking for. You'll have to do a slight modification to the notches at the base of the bulb, but it's simple stuff. Shave it down with a Dremel or snip it with some cutters.

 

I don't have a dremel. Guess will have to go with some pliars.
