Default 90 si suspension cpr

I am in the process of upgrading my 90 si suspension. I'm going with the much approved koni/gc combo. I will also be adding a larger sway bar and so will need the sub-frame brace. I was going to go with the BWR, but have decided against it and will get the ASR kit, which includes their adjustable 24mm sway bar.

I was also going to swap out my LCA's but have decided to remain stock and simply replace the bushings with PIC/Suja 1 Motoring Hard Rubber Bushings. (PIC sells a kit that includes the trailing arm bushings.) My research has found hard rubber to be superior to poly.

Does anyone have any advice to what I plan to do? Has anyone pressed bushings, how tough is it?

Hey Tyson, really?? I keep reading about the added stress brought on by a larger sway bar tearing the sub-frame. Is this BS?

the EF has the rear swaybar attached to the frame, not the crossmember. its not a problem for us.

poly is superior in the sense that it is tougher i believe?
but oem bushing pwn all.
LCA bushings can be very tough to press out... depending on the life of the car, they might be rusted in there.

if he was to get the ASR brace/sway bar it won't attach to the frame. the ASR no matter what year civic (88-00) mounts to the sub frame. if op was to get a ST rear sway bar, that's a different story.

depending on the spring rate you decide to go with, you should stay away from a larger than stock sway bar

makes for some good reading and have more sites if interested

i just did my rear lca bushings with oem and my best advice is to torch the old bushings out if they are still intact then take a sawzall and make a relief cut in the steel insert and hammer them out with a drift or chisel....use a press to install the new ones and youre done

Looks like I'll hold off on the sway bar but at least I know, thanks to you, that I don't need to waste money on the sub-frame brace. Not that I'm anti-bling.

Checked that web-page you ref'd, especially the part on spring rate and this sentence: The bigger the rear sway, the less independent your rear suspension will be and the less stable your car will be over bumpy corners. Makes total sense. And you rock for sharing knowledge.

I'm up for that and will reward myself to an extra beer after that operation. Thanks for the advice!
