creaking noise from passenger rear helpppp!!!!!
ok 2 weeks ago i had a creaking noise from pass rear, its a rotating creak only when goin slow like coming to a stop or like under 10mph,it steadly got louder, then we had it on a lift, didnt c nething wrong, had a ase certified mechanic look at it,nothing out of the ordinary he said, he took the caliper apart everything nothing,he checked the axle nut spec 181,i seen the bulletin that they r supposed to really b 220 ft lbs?? so he did that, took a test drive and the sound got 10x louder,so we put it back on the lift broke the axle nut lose and part of the spline from where the axle goes into the hub was in 2 piece so the spline broke,(would this hurt nething else???)so i order a brand new axle put it in,everything was fine for like 4 days til it started making the same noise again, just a small creak one per every revolution the wheel makes, when u go slow or slow down towards a stop, but he said the manual says 181 ft lbs so thats what we did and now its doin it again......should we put the axle nut to 220 ft lbs,or has ne one else heard of this problem or sound before??? its a 2001 help on this would greatly b appreciated thank you!!!!!
diff fluid good, didnt check wheel bearings cuz the sound goes away or doesnt exist faster then 10 mph only slowing down to a stop or maintain a speed around 5 to 10 mph like i said replaced the axle at 181 ft lb mark sound went away and just came back 4 days later!!!! ne other help
does the grease on the out board joint face of the axle really make a diff, and what about the 220 ft lbs i have been hearing about,i hear alot of ppl with this prob.???? or is the sound something else???sound stays no matter brakin clutch push in coastin everything,as long as ur goin that speed u hear it it like a creak creak creak like as the wheel rotates helppppppp im so sick of the sound and cant really afford a bunch of shots in the dark, stuff for these cars are outragous thank u all help greatly appreciated

Revised spec for the axle nut is 220. Do you have aftermarket brake rotors? My EBC Sport rotors make a rotational scratching noise kinda like what you're describing. But unfortunately, it's likely to be the wheel bearing/hub. See http://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/449975-.
