complete GSR into 1996 coupe ex. What do i need?
i'm going to buy a totaled GSR. so everything is there i need for the swap.
i tried to do a little reading before i waste peoples time on this. so i found out a little information.
as far as mounts, what do i need and where can i get them? can i use the GSR ones? perhaps buy new OEM ones from the dealer? i read something about using a 99-00 Si T mount?
as far as wires, harnesses, ecu's, what's with that? can't i just use everything that was already in the GSR and put it in my ek?
as far as buying new parts such as the bitch pin etc.. what parts should i get to replace the OEM ones? mounts and bitch pin... anything else?
i read something about the header not matching with the cat but i can just use the GSR exhaust i suppose, correct?
any links or words of advice would be great. much appreciated.
if there's any information i need to add just let me know, thanks.

use the stock civic mounts from the 96, you'll need the rear t bracket and 2 post block mount from a 99-00 Si.. use the stock civic ex harness... everything else from the gsr.. motor, ecu, shift linkage, axles
just buy some ebay mounts with the solid red street compound inserts. they bolt rite in and there made for a d or b series motor. ive had mine for 4 yrs only thing i didn't like was the cheap paint they put on them. they are cheap and better then OEM.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/96-97...item256575b9b6 these are the ones i purchased you will have to tell them when u buy what insert compound u want. as i noted u want street 60a so they're still a soft compound and not completely solid if this is a daily driven car

dont buy those shitty mounts.. you dont "need" them if yours are worn bad and the motor flex's alot ,id suggest hasport or avid replacement mounts.. you can buy the t bracket and block mount from honda.. theyre not that expensive.. i put the street hasport mounts in when i swapped a jdm gsr in my old hatch, they are a nice upgrade if u can afford them too.. and its a hell of alot easier to change them while the motor is out..lol ill have to search for the part numbers for the 2 mounts you need from honda... or you should be able to find that info on here somewhere or google it
buy some good mounts for your swap, dont buy crappy ebay mounts. get some hasport or innovative mounts.
just use the gsr cat and youll be ok. youll prob have weld on the rest of the pipe to a matching flange to the gsr cat.
youll need a b16 or crv a/c bracket to keep you a/c. you can still use your civic a/c compressor instead of the gsr one, if you want to keep a/c.

id rather put that extra 200 dollars in something else then motor mounts serving the same purpose. most people are not going for a show car look if its daily driven. to each they're own. you must be a JDM junkie too spending 500 on a set of ctr headlights
so are you saying all engine mounts are the same for performance? and how does having good mounts have anything to do with being a show car? and who meantioned anything about ctr headlights?
you can get avid or innovative mounts on ebay for under 300 now i believe
thanks for the information guys.
i just want any information i can get before i tackle this project.
any advice or previous mistakes made, etc.

I just did this swap into my 98 EX.
If the engine is ODB2a it makes things a lot easier. I assume you're getting the USDM swap though and because I ventured into the JDM swap, there is a lot more wiring for you to do. You cannot use the existing engine harness from the GSR, but you use the one from your EX afaik.
Header Issue:
I have not had a problem lining up my old exhaust with the header.
ECU:
You want to use the ECU that came with the engine.
Mounts:
Going the "easy" route and replacing all mounts is what I did. If you go this way these are the additional brackets you will need for either Hasport or Innovative series mounts.
50827-S04-N10 - Rear T Tranny Bracket
11910-P30-000 - Driver's Side 2 Post Mount
Use your existing Passenger Tranny Mount from your old engine.
Upgrades:
Look into brake upgrades from this thread: http://www.ek9.org/forum/brakes/7864...de-thread.html because you'll be putting down more power and it will help with stopping distances. This is only OEM upgrades so if you're into aftermarket go elsewhere.
I forget what other issues I ran into besides messing up on the firing order..
Hope this helps you. GL
