Not. Lately. There's a hole in my heart the size of a Type-R. I miss every sensation that machine lavished on me. Perfection. In suspended animation. Literally. This is so wrong.

Sooo i see the mill and other goodies to fabricate all the choice pieces on your Kaa.
Whats keeping you from jumping back in the mix?
What in the hell is on top of the hood on the top of the Kaa?
Dont tell me those are fake flowers?

Potted flowers growing on my kaa? That's an old joke. Nah, that's wiring loom / green connectors.
The problem(s) - same as many others. Time and/or money. Sometimes I got one, the other, neither. The last four years have presented challenges. And I confess that during those interludes of being relatively richer in time I was distracted by other callings. Now it's a new job, with potential though requiring investment, investment of time, just about all of it. If I were to steal some time for shop work it would be a direct cost to my chances for professional success.
There are some compensations, large ones even. The work I've been doing has been completely engaging, forced by necessity, productive in outcome, and fufilling of my vision of myself. So that's not so bad. Just can't quite make me forget my favorite things.
I took a prospect out for an afternoon sports activity a couple of weeks ago. Golf? NO. Outdoor rental karts. Ettiquette? Not necessary. My first kart wouldn't turn right - plowed straight off. I came in for a replacement. Same thing. I got spanked by 4 seconds. My guest was good (he's a full on car guy, born in North Carolina, a name that would fit in Nascar, SRF trained, regular league karter). Next session same thing more or less - I had a kart that turned right Really Good, but the right front was like a bad shopping kart caster and it shook until I turned left and when I did that it darted left so unpredictably that it was a real test of my necessarily quickly derustifying skillz - not what I'd call fun. But I went a second faster and he went a second slower. Needed a third session for sure. I got his original kart, and got within two tenths of his time. He got an even better kart and stretch out a few more tenths. So I barely salvaged my dignity, and got my Jones's Jonesing. There's a decent 180 right hander there that has a long wave, and in that last and decent kart it was such a joy to carve nice long groove. Since then I think it hurts more every day, the missing. I'm just going to have to pay the price and get in a few hours here and there until over time they add up to a running car.
Health is good enough Chad - Thanks. Heart is getting it's job done without much fuss, but I am totally paying now for youthful magic moments (they were magic until I hit the ground anyway). But all the hardware is good enough to drive a car for sure most of the time. If I can drive a kart then a car is no problem, and frankly I prefer not feeling caned for a week after.
No help will help - Thanks Pat. I did buy some goodies from Chris a while back to save me from making the same thing. But for some of the rest I need ideas that I haven't had yet. It's so funny how the subconcious doles out it's fruits. Everything it's giving me lately is work related - I'm taking that as a sign that it's on my side.
Scott, who is noticing that nobody has mentioned something in the pic that I thought might raise an eyebrow...

Green flowery connectors?
Thats a relief. If they were flowers I have to say you need to find a vw beetle.
They come with a vase.
Sometimes you have to prioritize your life, and fit just enough of everything in Scott.
its ok to work hard but dont forget why you work.
One of the reasons is to have some fun.

Scott what else was there in the picture that we might have noticed and raised an eyebrow? The racing stripes blanket? Car looks well cuddled in it.
I have had my Type R in stasis for almost two years since my wastegate stuck and the engine melted a piston under infinite boost down the straight at Mosport. But it is now fully re-built (year one), and I got it running about 10 days ago. It has just over 500 km on the new engine, and many mods to improve packaging (year two stuff) and overall turbo reliability. I keep asking myself, if Honda had done it, how would they have put it together? Well I can't do stuff as well as Honda, but I can at least use them for inspiration. as the break-in miles have accumulated, I am pushing the car a little harder, and it is making some serious power. Giving me the ******* on the street, so I need to get it to the track for its re-birth. Just waiting for the latest model wastegate from Tial which is now water cooled specifically for road racing use. Hopefully more reliable. So things take a while sometimes, and lots of cash and hard work, and much pondering and wrenching, and just a bunch of telling yourself to get off your chair and into the garage with some tools in your hands. But when you get it all together, under its own power, with the fine oil perfume, life is good.
So what are you waiting for? If you need some encouragement, I can provide.

That's funny though - I never noticed that about that t-shirt.
Scott, who thinks RTR was spreading disinformation in their propaganda...subconciously slowing the unknowing...
