Default Help w/ITR Spoon Springs and/or Konis ?

If anyone can help with this, please pop into the thread and see if you can figure out why the back of my car is so low.

Use a higher spring perch. My Konis have 3 to choose from.
Assuming George's are the same.

Why Spoon Springs anyway? Cant cross weight spoon springs.
OK George, don't make me whip out an "All Show and No Go" on your ***.

hey george, i personally think that is a perfecct setup. when i cornerweighted my car, it ended up virtually the same way. it transferred as much weight as possible rearword, without looking like the car was wheelieing. if it really bothers you (i don't think it should, my guess it is better balanced that way) put a rubber spacer block between two of the coils to bring it back up a bit. i think it is fine though. good luck.

What'd you do w/your camber? You adjusted the rear camber or did you leave it at the severe dropped setting? It looks like it'd wear tyres too quickly, even if it does handle very well.

Edit: Corey and I disagree a little about the handling. What the Spoon springs did was maintain the car's basic, stock dynamics but raise the limits.

This means that the car will not oversteer unless it's at speed and you lift at a speed high enough to actually transfer weight to the front.
i run -3 degrees all around. the rear of my car, the fender lip is just about non existent (trimmed it) -3 is a little too much, as i will try 2.75 next season. the inside edges of the front get a little too hot, but i digress...
my car is 2420lbs (minus me, i'm a tub, about 210) with 670lb front and 580lb rears and a 26mm rear bar. i know this is much more rate than the spoons, but i just wanted to let you know my setup. my car is totally neutral, pushing slightly under hard throttle, rotating under braking/trailing throttle.

Oops. George is gonna get rolled like a log at a lumberjack rodeo.

Did you compare the perch height of the koni vs. the stock ITR shock? if the Koni perch is lower, that might be your problem.

My money is on push.
If it doesn't push with this setup, you're going too slow.

900/1400 with a 28mm rear bar.

It sounds like you've got a plan already, but it would be nice to see a pic of the whole car from the side, not just the front and rear gaps seperately.

BTW, Jerry, that cracked me up.

How many more of these ya got, Jerry?

Helpful as always...why don't you go play with your little plastic car and leave Honda-Tech for the Honda people?

Measured at the jacking points, it is definitely 1/2" lower in the back.
George, check to see if the Koni perch isn't that 1/2" lower than the stock ITR shock's perch.

Sad that we cant have a little humor in it all. Joke of it all is, IMO, is that george (a well spoken, polite, middle aged guy) would be a stunna in any form...

You driving next weekend?

i wouldnt worry about you trying to control the car, you have always looked smooth from my perspective, although it may follow the duck in the water phenomenon but i doubt it...

ross has always had a negative tone towards me when i make my 'st4nnA' and 'sp00m' jokes... ho-hum.

You driving next weekend?

Who? Me or Ross?

I'll be there, scooting all over the pavement trying to control a newly suspended ITR.

Edit: I'm sure Ross was joking. He's just such a Yankee.

I respond negatively to your jokes simply because they're unnneccesary. even your original username was a jab at Type-R owners.

It seems to be a common trait in our little corner of the motorsports community to disrespect those who drive faster, more expensive cars. I choose instead to respect superior machinery, even if I have passed one on the track. I am not a fan of all this nonsense about "Vipers/Porsches/M3s/Z06s/Ferraris are slow because I got a point-by from one".

I am genuinely sorry that the only people who make parts for your car are JC Whitney and RK Sport. But you don't have to be a smartass when someone buys a high-end part for their Honda...especially since you don't own one. I guess it's like those old Lexus (or maybe Infiniti) ads..."own one and you'll understand."

Ross - who would never hate on a Ferrari owner for buying a Tubi Style exhaust

back to George's needs...

I know GK can fight his own battles...this is less about me defending him than it is about me getting tired of seeing every single post about Type-Rs or up-market Japanese parts get polluted with these stupid "stunna" comments. Am I a stunna because of my Spoon exhaust or Mugen spoiler? No, I am a stunna because of my American-made subwoofers in my trunk.

RJ isn't the only one by any means, but he makes himself a bigger target by talking a lot of **** about Hondas and their owners on a Honda message board. Am I going to step into a M3 forum and waste bandwidth about how many M3s I have passed, and how AC Schnitzer and Dinan are overpriced crap? The answer should be pretty obvious, but I guess for some people it isn't.

there is a difference here, we all know RJ and know his comments are light hearted

As far as the comments about Type-R's, I would have thought that you would have figured that you were fighting a losing battle there. Try not getting upset about them and see if they begin to die out.
