Base RSX at 270whp!
HKS just released a press statement about a new turbo kit for the k20a3 (base RSX and Si) that made 270whp. This was, however, with an upgraded fuel system (return-type; stock is return-less).
Ok, I'm not a turbo expert or anything, but here's what I found out about the GT2540 turbo.
It's manufactured by Garrett Japan. A hybrid T25 turbine and T04 compressor design, it has a ball bearing center section and a ceramic turbine. The T25 turbine is relatively small (which, along with the BB center section, should allow for quick spool up) and the T04 compressor is fairly large, allowing for good top end.
As for why the base model was chosen, I'm not sure. There are turbo kits coming out for the S model by other manufacturers, so perhaps HKS wanted to hit the base market first. The base model does have a fairly high CR (9.8:1) itself, nowhere near as high as the S.

for the type-s, I saw on clubrsx.com that hytech is releasing a turbo that's gonna put 500hp to the wheels. Granted that the kit comes w/ everything to reinforce the bottom end. They're actually releasing 2 kits, one that puts 300hp to the wheels on stock internals and one that puts 500 on new internals. The kit comes w/ everything from ecu to exhaust to anything else u'll need to put a turbo in a car.
