1990 Honda Accord Problem
I went to store yesterday came back and went in the house. i came back later my back lights and brake light was on. When I went in the house the lights switch was off. i flick the lights on and off and they didnt come off. I tried to start the car but my battery was dead but my back lights were on. I just unplugged the battery..is this a wiring problem?
no, it's much simpler than wiring. the switch for the brake lights is on the brake pedal. it's on when it's not being pressed (when the brake pedal is down). when the brake pedal is up, a small plastic plug/pad on the pedal arm pushes the light switch to turn it off. over time (15-20 years) this plastic plug gets brittle and breaks. there's a good chance you'll see some small, round broken bits of plastic on your floor board..
to fix it you need this piece 46505-SA5-000. #25 in the image below. it just snaps in the tab on the pedal arm.
