Default frankenstien question.

can i use a D15b7 block with a D16a6 head and a y8 intake?
do i have to use all the y8's injectors, throttle body, fuel rail and IAC?
just wondering what would be in store and if there are any other easier ways.
would like to do a d15 bottom d16 top with a y8 intake.. and keep it non-vtec?
what ecu would i use?

Yes you can use the d16a6 head on the b7 bottom end, Bolts right on,
You will have to change out the injectors for the ones off the a6 if you want to stay obd0. Everything else should be able to be used. pm6 ECU would be the one to use. You still dpfi?

that's awesome info man. i WOULD like to stay obd0.
I'm still dpfi.. does that mean i'll have to splice a puzzle of wires??
would i use the a6's fuel rail, throttle body and iac? or the y8's? or does it matter?
thanks.

You can use either fuel rail, and throttle body. Just that if you run obd0, the mpfi swap is easier for you to do. So if you were to stay obd0, you would use the a6 injectors, and the a6 dizzy. If you wanted to use the y8 injectors, you would have to buy a obd0 to obd1 conversion harness, run also the y8 ecu as well. If I were you, I would stay obd0 to simplicity's sake. Use the a6 timing belt, water pump and replace the tensioner pulley at the same time..

The d16a6 and d15b7 head castings are the same only the camshafts and valve springs (depending on the year) are different between the two heads. If you use the a6 cam on the b7 block, you should use a y7/y8 cam gear to correct the valve timing. You can use the a6 injectors with the resistor box or use the y8 injectors without the resistor box with OBD0 or OBD1. Use d15b7 timing belt. b7 and a6 water pump are the same. Use a6 distributor with OBD0.
