LS tranny shot?
Hello. I picked up an LS cable tranny(not sure what year) for my ef. I purchased it for $100 off craigslist. I am just wondering if I wasted my money. I notice the gears have some light chipping but the synchros look OK to me. Are there any tranny experts who want to take a look and help me decide to rebuild or is it OK to install? Thank You in advance.
I could not figure out how to post images in thread.

Cant really see to well in the pics..most of them are blurry. Also you will need to completely disassemble, wash the parts and lay them out to get a better look at the damage. I can see that a few of the synchros are chewed up. I would rebuild it while you have it apart...just got to check all the rest of the parts to make sure the trans is worth sinking some money into it.
Use the macro setting on your camera (the flower) and we might be able to tell you little more. Like James said though synchros look chewed up in a couple of cases, overall the gears look good though. What exactly did you mean by chipping? If you're talking about the actual gear teeth those chips are supposed to be there, they're ID marks. If you're talking about the engagment teeth, well there's some wear there, most of what I can see looks ok though. you'll want to take everything apart though and check the condition of the sleeves and hubs as well.
Camera battery dead. No new pics yet. I calculated 5th gear ration. 0.742 . So it is a 92-93 YS1. I did notice the synchros are chewed up. I will probably get a complete rebuild kit(Seales, bearings, synchros). If I do this, will I need to measure clearances? Or should I be fine? Gear teeth all look good. I checked them all out.
Its always a good habit to check your clearances. Trans may have been tinkered with in the past and clearances may be off. So check them for good measure and piece of mind.

Looks like a YS-1 to me
Good trans to have since the internals are interchangeable with 94-01 Hydro LS transmissions.
