20yrs in the Midwest with no issue, 1 year in AZ = STOLEN
I don't have any car people around me, they don't understand...they just tell me to "get over it, it's just a car!"
So, I just want to rant a bit.
Had a Rio Red, 1990, stock HF. Bought it in Wrigleyville (Area of Chicago around Wrigley Field) back in '02 or '03 (so long ago I can't even remember). Recently moved to Tucson, AZ for graduate school...
2 weeks ago tonight, I went out to my car to give my friend a ride home from the train station. My car was gone...right from the lot at my apartment complex
It still doesn't make any sense to me...it was rusted (20 years in Chicago/N. Illinois area), dented, ****ed seats, and generally in poor physical condition (good mechanical condition).
There are 2 other EF's in the lot, both in MUCH better condition....and a handful of oldish (late 90's/early 2000's) Porsches, BMWs, Volvos, Toyotas, etc...It seems like my car would have been the LAST CAR in the city to steal, not to mention the lot...
The exhaust broke this spring, so it was cheapest to get headers and just do a catback. All I can think is that some idiot saw the headers and guessed it must've been modified or had an engine swap...or some shady **** from the shop has a job at night, hahah
Cops told me they have about an 80% recovery rate in Tucson (No, the cars don't disappear to Mexico. And if anyone even starts trying to say **** about Mexico or Mexicans, STFU and GTFO...I'm not in the mood for any Racist, ignorant insanity right now), but that if they find it, it will probably be stripped. They said there IS a chance they just may find it abandoned somewhere along the highway just out of gas. Apparently that is the big issue they have: people steal the cars, drive them around until they are out of gas, and then just abandon them. Rinse and repeat.
I used to remember seeing these kind of threads all the time over the years...but it was always to abstract. Car theft in the Midwest is pretty low. **** sucks... I don't even have enough money right now for a ****ing bus pass :/
Biking around in 100+*F weather sucks...
**** thieves....
Here we are at Arches National Park in Moab, Utah.
We took a road trip (apparently our last) in Spring....

20 ****ing year in Illinois, no problems save for occasional idiots knocking off the side mirrors....One year and two weeks in Arizona, and it's gone :/
If any of you have had a car stolen and recovered, what was the timeframe?
Since it's an HF, if they're driving it around until it runs out of gas...it could be awhile...hahahahah
(Also, last I was here on Honda-tech a few years back [maybe 2-3 years since I have come here regularly], the community seemed to be getting younger, less intelligent, and generally less civil. If that's the case, and you are one of those people, feel free to pass this thread on by....)

That's pretty lame - sorry to hear about your loss.
You might want to go camp out on the border and see if they try to drive it down that way. =P

Sorry for your loss. If you haven't heard anything by now I bet who ever stole it is parting it out. Few of my buddies have had theres stolen and have gotten out of the Honda scene since then.
bump...I have to agree with this guy on this....the people on HT are generally "less civil"...post anything negative about someone they highly regard on here and they attack like a pack of wolves or hyenas. The thug mentality.
Yeah, I'm not attacking anyone specifically, I am just saying, I stopped coming to H-T a few years ago because I couldn't deal with all the whiny, pissing, and general D-baggery.
I can retroactively cancel my insurance up to a month after the incident, so if I don't hear anything by September 1st, I'm just going to assume it as a total loss...
[sigh]
I think this will be the end of Hondas for me. The CRX is ****ing amazing, but newer Hondas are nothing like that...
I had come from the mkII VW scene, until that was overrun by hipsters and former Mk IV owners who totaled their cars...
One thing I did miss about the VW scene was not having to worry about this kinda thing :/
Worst part was I had JUST SPENT my whole ****ing tax return on maintenance back in May....if I'd have know this was gonna happen...
I think this is just going to be the end of me being a car enthusiast....I've no money, and this theft stole that last bit of enthusiasm from me :/
I'm not really angry or upset...mostly just disgusted, confused, and saddened. There's no hope for humanity, hahaha
Thanks for listening, hope none of you ever have to deal with this ****.
Get a fuel cut-off ASAP! And an Ignition cutoff....and a club....and a clutch club....and a tracker...and a camera...and make a habit of regularly sitting in your car brandishing a pistol....

As another former mkII owner, I agree with your points there. I've always straddled both camps. Gotta admit though, turboing a 8v cis is a walk in the park..
