Default Mugen/Spoon/J's Racing Baffled Oil Pan

I know this benefits during hard turns at the track, but is there any minor cons to using it for daily driving? Just wondering, dont hear too many people using them. I know it might not be necessary for the track, but it would be insurance. Thanks in advance!

There are no cons to running a baffled oil pan.

I didn't think it'd be as expensive as I thought it would be.

Why wouldn't spoon drain plugs work with a mugen oil pan......????

JDMhondaparts has the Mugen oil pan for 249. dont know what all is included.
And isnt the Moroso(however spelled) pan like 300-400 bucks? What sets theses three companies and the Moroso pans apart?

Didn't touch on mine. It comes close to hitting one of support pylons, but the Spoon plug threaded and seated all the way on my Mugen pan.

Maybe Mike already did something to mine before shipping it.

I believe the Mugen pan is a modified OEM pan, and the Moroso is fabricated from scratch. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I have to wonder how much oil starvation occurs.

Thinking about it, it could happen quite a lot, but I've taken some pretty nasty banked turns at really high speed, and have yet to notice any issues.

Why risk a very expensive race engine, or any for that matter...over a couple hundred dollars?

Kinda like the PE Timing Belts...cheap insurance.

If anyone can point me to a picture of the J's baffled pan, I'd appreciate it. I didn't know it even existed.

I talked with Mike today at IPS. Because I have the spoon plugs and will have the mugen pan in the future. From memory, he thinks they slightly changed the design of the pan. All you have to do to fix the problem is bend the pan just a little with a flat head screw driver.

After you do that, there will not be any problem with either the plug or modifying the shape of the pan.

is the j's pan new?
there doesnt seem to be a whole lota info about it ?

Mugen baffled oil pan....courtesy of my camera and Mike M.

The Spoon plug passes just to the left of the pylon and the threaded portion doesn't come close to touching it.

oil pressure can be a big problem..especially because our vtec depends on it...

i drop out of vtec if i get below an 1/8 th of a qt. especially on long turns

what is the capacity of the moroso? my last race i had a few laps of partial vtec...

talk about throwin out an anchor!

The Moroso doesn't work for road racing.

So the spoon plug will be OK with the mugen?
