Default 97 Accord EX auto trans

The trans went on my 97 EX and i am looking to swap in a used one. My question is what other transmissions will work? Does the car being OBDII have a big factor here, as well as it being a VTEC motor? Will the 98 and up trams work also?

Any help is appreciated.

Any 90-97 trans will bolt right up if your EX is a 4cyl. The only differences are final drive ratios, and the 90-93 VSS (vehicle speed sensor) is different and needs a little mod. There is a thread here on HT on how to mod the VSS its not hard. I just replaced the trans in my 97 Cl w/ a JDM from http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=230641333833 for $350 shipped to my mechanics shop in 3 days. have about 2k on it and it shifts as good or not better than the original trans. A 98 and up trans will bolt up to your car but is totally electronically controlled so it wont work in your car.

Ok. I knew the 90-93 auto trans had to have the VSS modified, but wasnt sure about the OBD factor.
