Default J30A1 Tranny Swap Question.

Hi guys,

I've got a 97' Acura CL 3.0 - Tranny gave out, of course.

I did a little research from where people who had 98-02 accords were swapping out their trannys for CL 6SP Manuals.

I never found a reverse answer though - Could I take a transmission from a 98-02 J30A1 Honda Accord and bolt it directly into my 97' Acura Cl ?

well the tranny case codes are almost the same..

In my noob opinion I would say that 98% sure you could put the 4 speed auto from a 98-02 Accord V6 into a 1997 Acura CL.

Both of those cars use the SAME motor. The J30A1 was "transplanted" over into our 98-02 Accords. So the engine bell-housing is the same, therefore, the 98-02 4-speed auto SHOULD bolt up.

As far as the Acura ECU controlling the 98-02 Accord tranny, sensors and stuff...don't know. And having the mounts in the right place ...don't know. And the drive axles.....again, don't know.
