sweet! but is it legal?
this is by far the most beautiful upper strut bar i have seen. i remember some saying that this style bar isn't legal for SCCA solo2. is that true?

I believe it depends on the class you're running in, but in the closer-to-stock classes, only two point strut bars that connect only the towers are legal.
Three points bars like that bump you up a class, IIRC.

what about the neuspeed bar for the preludes...
Just disconnect the back section for solo2...
I don't think the bar can touch the firewall - whether it is bolted or not. I remember a few years back someone developed a cantilever-style brace that would push on the firewall when the towers would flex thus transferring the force to the firewall. It didn't bolt on but they still ruled it illegal.
C.Strut bars are permitted with all types of suspension. Strut bars may be mounted only transversely across the car from upper right to upper left suspension mounting point and from lower right to lower left suspension mounting point. No other configuration is permitted. Additional holes may be drilled for mounting bolts. Only bolt-on attachment is permitted.

Here is your answer:
No other configuration is permitted.
The allowed configuration is as follows:
Strut bars may be mounted only transversely across the car from upper right to upper left suspension mounting point and from lower right to lower left suspension mounting point.
The bar above is a different configuration since it also goes to the firewall. In regards to the different configuration, see the first part of my post.
The SCCA tells you in the beginning of the book that if it doesn't specifically say you can do something then to assume you can't.

More importantly, I may be a big dumb animal, but I cant deduce how one would attach that to the firewall, unless you remove the dash to thread a nut on the other side.

It bolts to the firewall in that area.my car even has the nutz already there.
