San Diego: 92-95 Civic JDM USDM UKDM Hybrid Speedometer Cluster
Up for sale is a one of a kind "one off" prototype speedometer cluster for any 1992-1995 Honda Civic. That means this is the only cluster like this in existence. The mileage currently reads 156,408.
This cluster is essentially a normal USDM 92-95 Civic EX/Si cluster except that the gauge faces are prototypes that are precisely modeled off of the JDM designed speedo cluster. Plus the red lit needles and associated parts are genuine items from a donor JDM cluster. So this is an EXCELLENT alternative to the ultra hyped and ultra pricey Spoon and Mugen clusters that often sell for $800 and higher.
The result is a 100% OEM and original speedo cluster that looks and lights up amber EXACTLY like a JDM Civic cluster, but reads in miles per hour like a USDM Civic cluster, and tops off at 145mph like a UKDM European Civic cluster. This will give you the highly sought after look and lighting of a JDM cluster without putting forth the extra effort of remembering the 0.62 conversion factor from miles to kilometers. And compared to the JDM kilometer cluster, this is also a more legit cluster from a legal standpoint for US roadways. This will also keep your 5G 92-95 Civic looking like it was intended from the factory because lets be real...............S2000 and Integra cluster swaps never look right.
From a distance, this looks like your normal average JDM cluster swap. At major car shows (SPOCOM, Nisei, Wekfest, etc.), the judges always overlook this cluster until I always had to point it out to them. They were usually in awe.
So this is the best of all 3 designs. Additional features include a custom 8500 RPM redline, USDM cruise control light, and custom VTEC indicator light. This is plug and play ready to drop in. No wiring needed except for the VTEC light (see pics). One wire needs a nearby ground and the other wire needs hooked into the VTEC solenoid circuit signal from the ECU. Wire it up correctly and it works fantastic. If you need to replace the bulbs, just use normal clear bulbs as the amber lighting is engineered into the gauge faces themselves. The amber lighting matches PERFECTLY with the JDM amber color of the cruise/fog switches and the amber climate control.
I was the designer and builder of this cluster in 2008. I sent the design and the donor JDM cluster to a company that makes custom aftermarket gauge faces for domestic cars. The design is my intellectual property and I own the schematics. I can produce more of these in the future. Since this a prototype, I have tons of money invested in the production of this plus the donor JDM cluster.
The main housing, circuit board film, tach, speedo, and temp/fuel assemblies are the original USDM guts. The red lit needles and the clear plastic bases to light the needles from behind are from the donor JDM cluster.
The tach needle was positioned using a digital timing light. The speedo needle was positioned on a rolling dyno at a speedometer shop. The fuel needle was positioned based off a full tank of gas. The temp needle was positioned at 8 o'clock based off a Mugen fan switch at 80 Celsius or 176 Fahrenheit. The stock fan works at 93 Celsius or 199 Fahrenheit.
This cluster works flawlessly. If anything ever breaks in the future, then you could easily replace any of the items using another JDM or USDM cluster. The only thing that is irreplaceable are the gauge faces themselves. In that case, you would need to contact me so I can have another set made for you.
This cluster was in my 1995 Civic coupe that was featured in the October 2009 issue of Honda Tuning magazine. I have recently parted out the car as I am moving on in life.

I have long known about this cluster and admired it. However, I am also in Canada so the mph feature is not needed here. You still have a PM, though.
