Icon6 1994 accord gas tank leaking

hey, im new on here and i have a question! i bought a 94 accord the other day for 500 bucks, its a great deal i just have a couple of things to do to get it right one of those things is the gas tank. i know where it leaks and i know i have to take off the "straps", i guess, but i have no idea on how to get it sealed again? i obviously cant weld a patch on, its go gas fumes even if i drain it! if you know how or have a suggestion, your welcome to help me out! i know i should buy a new one all together but im going to college next month so im low on cash lol

Thanks,
Simon

Well if you are trying to patch it....there are epoxy type of products you can try? Call and see if a bone yard has a used one in your price range.

Drain it an pull it off the car. Inspect it. If it's badly rusted replace it, otherwise let it sit in the sun for a while. The gas will eventually evaporate out allowing you to weld a patch.

Call up some west coast/southwest wrecking yards. LKQ comes to mind. They will have that kind of stuff rust free.
