Instructions on H23 axles install???
Anyone have the instructions on how to change the axles?? I hear it is easy but I would like instructions so i don't waste time.
Okay, here's my experience with axles.
First you have to jack up the car securely. Take off the wheels and you'll have to remove the big nut on the hub, 34mm I believe? Remember to stake the tab out first, and use a BIG LONG breaker bar. An heavy duty impact wrench would work also.
Secondly, completely remove the fork from the lower control arms. Remove the castle nut on the lower ball joint. Then you can work on popping the lower ball joint out. DO NOT use the forked prying tool, you'll rip the boot. There's actually a few approaches to this part. You can hit on the lower control arm and pop it out. Or use a puller type tool to seperate the ball joint from the LCA. I used a BFH and banged it out of there. Don't hit the bolt on the ball joint, as it will dent the bolt and you won't be able to get the castle nut back on.
After you get the ball joint seperated from the LCA, swing the hub outwards. Then you can start removing the axles. Don't pull from the end, but instead pry it out from where it connects to the tranny.
Installation is the opposite as above. Good luck!
