02 Honda Odyssey Trans +TCS
IDEAS NEEDED?
I have an 02 Honda Odyssey. I replaced the transmission 2.5 years ago at a transmission shop at 170,000 miles. Now 55,000 miles later I am having issues.
It is slipping only between 2nd and 3rd gears. When it slips the TCS light comes on. Then when you turn the car off and back on the TCS light is off and when you drive again it seems like when it heats up and then slips between 2nd and 3rd and then the light comes back on again.
Flushed the transmission fluid and it seemed like it helped for a week and then started all over.
Took to the transmission shop who did the work before. I have had the selenoid replaced, didn't help, replaced the converter didn't help. Now they say the EGR valve is causing the issue. Something about crabon build up with the valve and intake.
Can someone please provide any insight. I have spent $1,000 and it is still not fixed. I know it has a lot of miles on it but I was hoping it would hold out a little longer.
Thanks !!!

Failing EGR valves are a common problem with your model year. It will cause the CEL to come on (with the TCS sometimes). What is the code that is read? The symptoms are stumbling and/or hesitation while trying to maintain a constant speed.
As for a transmission problem - does the D light blink? Also check for a CEL code stored as well.
