*****replaced shock and springs and car is sitting too high****
ok I ordered some new preassembled shocks and springs for my 98 honda accord. After installation i noticed the cars is sitting about 1.5 inches higher than it did on stock shocks...what do you guys recommend me doing....my mechanic says to give them time and they will dampen. But don't you guys think that is a little too high ???

What springs and shocks did you put in? OEM replacements?
They will settle in after a bit, and also make sure they are seated correctly and don't have rubber stuff holding the springs in place.

any kind of name brand? or just "ebay" stuff? if its "ebay" stuff you get what you pay for, and they are all probably different hieghts than teh factory stuff and it is what it is i don't think your going to "settle" in almost 2 inches not going to happen, maybe 1/2 an inch at most, enjoy your cr-v i mean accord lol
The thing is that when i pulled the original shock and spring assembly and had it standing next to the ones i got, they where exactly the same height. I will give it a couple of weeks and see if it goes down. Otherwise I talked to my mechanic and we will just replace the springs with my old ones and just use the new shocks and the bushings that they came with.

Just being the same height means nothing. Clearly the spring rate on these cheapo springs is alot higher than the OEM. You will need to swap the factory springs back, as no it wont settle back down that much.
Maybe they were for v6 just a thought but idk because front looks a tad higher than the back but it could just be my eyes lol......man thats ready to be a Donk magazine lol just joke
LoL Whoa! That is high! No my friend your car will not "settle" and go lower. You need to change the springs or check for proper installation.
Check the part number to see if they gave you the v6 set up as those would need a heaver engine ro make it sit lower or it would sit up high like yours is, i would call them and double check if it is the right part
That said though the OP should have also preloaded the suspension (which I have a feeling he didn't)
Unnecessary for this application.
I am aware of this, you must reread the thread to understand the context of my post. My response was directed to the TS and his mechanic telling him not to worry because the car would settle and insinuating that the vehicle would lower back to normal.
Obviously we are not talking about half an inch in this thread, the pictures make that quite clear.

As to preloading being unnecessary, I disagree. It puts all the suspension components in their respective 'normal' positions before tightening everything down. That is most certainly not a bad thing to do on any suspension replacement.
just wondering but how would you preload the suspension on this kind of accord, installing koni/neuspeed?
besides putting the car on the floor, then tightening the bolts on top

Like others, get a secondary jack and jack up at the lower control arm and lift the vehicle off the jackstands about a half an inch to an inch. Then tighten the bolts.
Use jackstands after you have raised the car up then use your jack to raise the car up. I would loosen the suspension bolts (upper control arm, etc)
