So.. I just got my 1989 CRX running, B16 conversion. I drove it to work today after I got to work I saw gas dripping out of my gas door, I opened the gas cap and it started to vomit fuel out the gas tank inlet. I am almost certain that there is a vacuum on gas tanks not pressure. would it be my gas cap failing? or would there be some other explanation?
any feedback is greatly appreciated.

no your tanks pressurized,normaly just a few psi's...try changing the gas cap or maybe your fuel lines are on wrong or somethin

 

My tanks always under a vacuum, makes a woosh sound when I take the cap off to fill up.

 

OP - how are your fuel lines routed under the hood? What you are describing is hard to pull off, even if you are trying to.

 

..are you sure its a whoosh and not a pshhh like a coke bottle...gas tasks are presurized and the cap and evap system takes the pressure away.id say the cap is bad...trust me,i slept at a holiday in last night.lol
