which intake for b16a?
Sup guys,
My buddy just dropped in a b16a in his 90 civic si. He wants to pick up a intake
but wasn't sure which one he will need. Does anybody know which will fit his
setup? Will a 88-91 civic si in take have the correct fitting for the breather and vaccum hose? Im posting this for him cuz his internet access is down for now.
thanks!!

I have a helpful link that might get you in the right direction..
http://www.hybridautomotive.com/tech/aem/
The Injen intake for 88-91 Civic/crx Si fits perfectly.
Thanks for the info!!! I'll let him know. Not sure if he was looking for a cold air
model or not. Will any short ram model work? I think he was looking to pickup
one of those cheapy ones off ebay but wanted to make sure they had the two fittings for the breather/vacum hoses.
thanks again!

right now i have a cheap *** ractive Intake that fits on fine, it has fallen apart in the last year though so I am buying a aem soon. mine was for a crx si.
yes..use the injen. i have iceman and i had to modify. you'll also have to cut and modify the aem..this unless you relocate the battery. injen does not call for battery relocation and is 3 inch, just like you want for b16.
dang..i hope the 3 inch is still available. that was the only reason to buy the injen. the old one was their regular crx/civic Si intake...direct fit for ZCs and B16s.

to be honest with you I don't a 3 inch give you any more wonderful horsepower of a 2.5" One intake offers you volume while the other offers you velocity.
I have this one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1864642946 or one like it.
The day someone posts a dyno that reveals that I can get more than 1hp from a 3" intake as opposed to the one I already have (2.5") I will get one.. I just don't see myself spending more than 80$ on something I could have made myself!
To answer your question, the Injen is the best way to go if you must have a 3" CAI and money isn't an issue.

No you don't. My brother used a CRX Si one with his B16, and it worked perfectly. I would just buy a 99-00 Civic Si one and relocate the battery though.

Injen does indeed use 2.5 inch tubing for the 1988-1991 Civic/CRX. The problem with using a 1988-1991 intake is that they are all designed for the D16A6. While 2.5 inch tubing may be great for that particular motor, it is not large enough for a B16A. Your best bet is to use the AEM CAI for the 1999-2000 SI. That intake is designed for a B16A and uses 2.75 inch tubing. You will need to either relocate the stock battery or use a small racing battery (Odyssey, Dyna-Batt, Annihilator, etc.).
