Default An introduction

Whats up guys? Figured this is as good a place as any to introduce myself. My name is Brendan, I hail from the area of St. Louis Missouri.

Today I bought a 1995 Accord for $1600. I don't know what trim level, its debadged. Its a two door. 165k on the body, 35k on the rebuilt VTEC engine. Its got a few mods, nothing extreme- stage 1 clutch, full exhaust from header back, lowered on nice wheels, good audio system. Working A/C, which was one of the selling points. It has ABS and four-wheel discs, but the ABS light in the dash is on so I doubt the ABS works. Kid I got the car from said it was a sensor or something.

The car itself is very clean, it was in a totaling accident at some point, and was subsequently rebuilt and repainted. They did a good job of it, the paint is damn near immaculate. Prior salvage title, but that doesn't bother me any. It originally had a full leather interior, at some point somebody swapped out the front seats for cloth, though I haven't a clue why. It needed front brake rotors/pads and the brake system bled, but I should get it back from the shop sometime tomorrow. I took it to them not from a lack of skill to do this myself, but because its been in the 100s lately here and I don't particularly feel like dying of heat stroke from doing the brakes in the driveway.

Anyway, that's my car. Now me: long story short(er), I got fed up with throwing money at my old daily just to have things keep breaking, so I sold it for $700, and started shopping for something else. My project truck is still a long way from road worthy. Well, go figure, I lost my job the same day (long story). That was almost a month ago. Since I can't rely on others to get me around, I needed a car to get another job. I drained my savings and started looking for something that would get me around everyday reliably, comfortably, and wouldn't be a total bore to drive like my last daily. Today I picked up this Accord. I have about another 2 weeks to a month at most to find another job before my utilities start getting turned off and I end up losing my home. This Accord, well, I'll just say it represents hope for me to get out of the very deep hole that I'm in right now financially and avoid ending up homeless (been there, its not a good place to be). Thats why I named her 'Maki', which is Japanese for 'true hope'.

Anyway, I kinda rambled. Hopefully I'll have pics for you guys within the next couple days whenever I find my camera.

Welcome to the HT! I hope you find a job soon. St. Louis isn't an easy place to make a living. Good find on the Accord!

Ok, here's the pics. Keep in mind, this is as I bought it and I haven't even had a chance to properly detail it yet. The only thing I've done so far is new front brakes.

Things it still needs as far as repairs/maintenance: a few interior pieces, new belts (squeel when cold), new tires (two have air leaks, one has a broken belt)

Welcome aboard!

That's a very clean looking Accord for $1600. Nice find

Good luck finding a job

Squeel when cold - probably Alt or P/S belt
I would also replace that dirty old filter, or at least wash it if you can. I throw my Reactive cone filter in the dish washer every few months.....works great on the cheap....lol

There's a couple little rust bubbles on the driver side that concern me. But other then that the body is straight.
