Default 06+ Civic Si Big Brake Question

So I've been seeing the Acura OE Brembo brake kits from the Type S TL showing up on ebay and on cars at the track. My question to you guys is what must be done to adapt them to work on a 06+ Civic Si and how do they get along with the MC/brake balance?

Thanks again

Good Question.. never seen one on the TL brakes posted.
Those are some robust units to say the least.
Id imagine there would be some alteration of the bracketry to get it to mount correctly.
Most of the older hondas have been known to use Integra front brakes, or some from a prelude or even the legend.
It's known Integra's just bolt up in most applications of the older civic.
The others mentioned above do require a little machining on the calipers to fit.
MC, i run a 2000 SI and it has been proven that it will handle the bigger calipers from the bigger honda/acura cars just fine.
Again this is from people that i know actually use this kind of setup.
They claim superior braking to what they used to have, and the more experienced drivers say there is nothing that they cant out brake.
My future plans include a Legend front caliper swap.

For the newer cars.. man i dont know anyone who is actually using a OE swap set up on that new of a car.
Only a few run a newer civic in competition. Kiwi is building a car now,but I'm sure he is going with an aftermarket set up.
Jason "dtcevo" at Innovative garage who crews a conti series car might also be of help.

Just for kicks I tried sizing the caliper up on my 2000 Si, the caliper laughed at it. The bracket itself is too thick to fit in between the mounts on the knuckle and rotor. I've heard the modification is very similar to ITR brakes on a GSR, machine 3-5mm off and it mounts right up but I'm not sure how accurate that is. I know someone has mounted them up to a 07 TSX and it required a 5mm spacer behind the rotor to get proper fit but the guy achieved this put washers behind the rotor so I don't know how much I trust him...

So I talked to guy that successfully installed these brakes on his 06 Civic Si. Had to bore out the ears on the knuckle to fit the big bolts through and (using the TL-S rotors) had to space the rotor out 7mm from the hub in order to gain proper spacing.

I figured it would take a little alteration to get things to fit.
If you dont have a problem with the way he did it, and you want to give it shot then by all means jump on it.

Thats how Prelude and legend brakes came into play with the older civic cars.
Innovation is the mother of necessity.
Im subscribed.

I'm going to be performing this retrofit on my friends 06+ Civic Si to see for myself. I'll be making a detailed DIY with all kinds of fun pictures of the process for you guys.
