Default Shop next door stole our welders...

So my friend is closing his shop and we spent the last few days cleaning things out.packing up when I noticed our welders were gone...
There's a woodworking shop upstairs and a granite shop attached as well... after looking around we found them in the back room of the granite shop, side panels off, halfway covered with a tarp.
They put our Dialarc 250hf, our dialarc 250ac/dc, and our mig welder in their DRY GRANITE CUTTING ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

These things were basically brand new before this, now they have so much granite dust in and on them you can't even tell what color they are. They even brought the torch cooler and the footpedal back there. So full of **** i'm going to have to take everything apart and clean it out.

They also wrapped everything up in a cluster****, wore through the ground cable on the tig (probably dragging it under the cart)

I'll try to get pics tomorrow when I unload everything.
so pissed right now

I would call the police and not go down the alley of retribution.

Not worth going to jail for other **** heads starting something.

Agreed, be the good guy calling the police. Don't retaliate, only leads to more problems.

Judge Judy or Judge Alex is my vote.

But if you REALLY want to suck the life out of them, put em on Nancy Grace.

You have to play it by ear with a situation like this

the best thing IMO is to let the police deal with them, but you have to have a good case to get something done.

if you do get them back, you probably shouldn't let anyone know about it and just do it.

Make sure you have proof of purchase with serial #s before you call the police.

the point is that they unlawfully took them, and proceeded to mis-treat them, which could very well cause pre-mature failure of the equipment. i would still turn this into a legal matter to, at the very least, get new ones. if you have the paperwork that matches the serial numbers, than you can A) prove that they are yours, and B) explain that the harsh enviroment they were left in has caused significant buildup and possible damage to the machines, in which case you need new replacements. so on the flip side, you may end up with two of everything

yea, im kinda pissed... the tig had about 1400hrs on, along with the cooler... came out of a delphi toolroom.
the arc welder is well... a paperweight, i never use it anyways.
the mig welder is just missing a wheel... no biggie.

besides, knowing this douchebag, no one in that shop will cop to it.

Wow, that's bad. Definitely call the police. Do you have any proof that they didn't look like that previously? Cuz you know the thieves won't own up to the damage.

doesn't matter he should have called the police before he moved or touch it that way the police would have made the police report stating that it looks like crap and was stored in a crappy location which may have damaged it beyond repair and then arrest the bastards that stole it or the shop owner but now who knows cause once you move it from the scene of the crime your screwed, trust me i know my truck was vandalized and i lost 5000 in tools atleast you know who robed you

that's what I was thinking, why wouldn't someone call the cops when thousands of dollar in equipment is stolen.
