My first accord...1993 Accord EX sedan
How's it going HT?? My names JB. A little background on me....I have owned an 87 CRX, an 88 CRX, and a 94 Civic Coupe. All have been sold/traded and I regret it sooooo bad! That is not my intentions with this car. I know i have been on this site before, but it was like two or three years ago im lucky i even remembered my password. This is my first Accord, a 1993 Honda Accord EX sedan with 178XXX miles on it. I picked it up after bothering a guy i work with to no end and he finally let me have it for $500. I brought it home last friday (7/29/11) and started working on it immediately...
The outside was in rough shape, it had been parked under a tree for god knows how long and had tree sap all over the poor thing...I have already started sanding it for new paint but this is what it looked like when i got her home friday afternoon

After some thorough investigation, i found this to be the biggest rust spot on the car

the good ole f22a6

let me go ahead and say that the reason i dont have any better pictures of the interior is because i could barely stand to look at it...i bet you it had atleast 200 french fries just chillin under the seats...yuk!! and i found a nickel and two pennies molded into the carpet so i just sucked them up with the vacuum cleaner

i was truthfully expecting it to not have a spare tire lol but it do!!!
i started cleaning about here

thats all i got done that day but i have been on it everyday...i replaced the fender, ordered a new inside door handle, and i have sanded nearly everything on the car and cleaned it very thoroughly....tomorrow i will post more pictures of all the recent work and i hope to have this thing painted by the weekend..
Like i said before this is my first accord and i am doing all the work, except paint, by myself and will be asking for suggestions and help along the way so please be patient. I will try to keep this up dated as often as i can. All comments good and bad welcome...

I see you are in NC, so ....Hard to see in the pic's but was the dirt so bad it had to be repainted? A good wash and "clay bar" or what ever would not work.....anyway, good luck....a jug of water or coolant in the back seat???? Might be the next thing to double check.
its not so much that it was that dirty...its just that it also had some dings and dents in it...plus the fender had to be replaced anyways so i just went ahead and sanded the whole car. plus i have a different car as my daily right now so why not go ahead and make it a cream puff.
Talking about the jug of antifreeze chillin in the backseat...it has a small leak from the radiator somewhere..coolant keeps appearing on the fan shroud so ill look into that whenever it gets back from paint..this weekend sometime

Ok so i have been working on the car every morning getting it ready for paint. I am hoping that it will be in the shop no later than tomorrow. I have been painting all the trim pieces, molding, etc...so as of right now its ready for primer and paint and i need to finnish filling in some of the dents..
On to the pics...

it took them 5 hours at the junkyard to pull that fender

roof looks a lot better

Here are some better interior shots of it cleaner...im still going to clean it one more time before i go anywhere

when i say she is stock....she is completely untouched...:p

i had ordered a new door handle for it from honda and when i got it home the guy had ordered the wrong one..go figure..so i took it back he apologized and my other one will be cheaper, thank god, and it will be in today sometime

repainted the heat sheild with some high heat paint..

:peer pressure:
you should remove the badges for paint though
my 6th gen is free letters so my badges had to come off for paint
you might could be able to get away with tape because those badges have that backplate, but its worth the time to take them off so you can have matching paint underneath
one thing i do is attached mine with this

it wont fall off and it comes off clean, it makes waxing a polishing so much more easy

awh ****...........got one piece of good news and two chunks of bad news.....
Good news: got the correct door handle today and put it in....yay
BAD NEWS: 1)My father and I went to talk to my uncle and buddy about painting it and finishing up the body work...They got all pissy cause i didnt want to paint the door handles black and i want them white..then they said they wont be able to paint it until next saturday...I'm bout to take it somewhere else and get them to paint it if i can find somewhere thats pretty cheap...
2)It has a leak somewhere on the radiator..so i cranked it up cause i thought it might be a loose hose or the overflow container or a radiator cap...well i cranked it up and held it at about 3 or 4 grand and i looked in the rear view mirror, poof blue smoke every where............i did not want to replace a motor but if i have to i will...it might just be a leaky valve guide and thats what i praying for so after i drive it a lil bit it will go away
but besides all this i never did find the leak so ill keep yall posted thanks for looking

Sorry guys i know it has been a while but I'm starting to get aggravated with everyone thats "helping" me.......
I have very few "updates" but i guess they are better than none..
1) well this past wednesday i got the title transferred into my name and am about to send if off for tags as soon as i get it so i can drive it a lil bit...
2) figured that i would go ahead and replace the fuel pump cause that would probably be the cause of the car having a rough idle and being tempermental...well i bought it and last night i was going to work on it and my loving father had put everything he owned in the garage where i cant even get to the car...and at 10 at night..half drunk i didnt feel like getting into a fight with my dad so i just left it for this morning...woke up early, moved his **** out the way, was about to work on it and realized (after looking in a haynes manual) that this was not like a civic where you take the back seat out and WAM fuel pump....nope this is a drop the tank, **** around with some hoses...kinda bs that will take me a lot longer than an hour by myself so i just moved my dads mess out of the way and left it there for either tonight or tomorrow morning when i dont go to work until 1...
anyways..the main reason nothing has gotten done is my dad has been aggravating about his golfcart getting fixed and it being in and out of our garage and him rearranging the car and all the parts...and on top of that the car is supposed to be in paint today but if it aint got no gas or no way to get the gas into the engine..aka fuel pump...then it wont be able to take the trip to the shop..and even more aggravating is the fact that the guys working on it were supposed to get up with us this past week and let us know what time and how much and i have not heard one lil peep out of them...pisses me off soooo bad

ok got a lil bit of an update today..got my help off their lazy asses and put the fuel pump in which was a bitch......but anyways now it still stutters at idle so i will probably look at some of the vacuum lines and replace them if that doesnt do it will need some HT help lol
thanks guys for keeping up with me
thanks guys for keeping up with me
Dude, looking good. I hate to hear about your fuel pump problems. I was under the impression that there was an access hatch under the rear seat as well. Maybe its just for the sending unit gauge thingymajig. I don't know. I was gonna let you know, in the 3 or 4 months after I acquired my 1990 EX, I ended up replacing about 70 percent of my vacuum/cooling hoses. Just a heads up. U might wanna go ahead and get them all replaced to save you some headaches down the roh wad.
^^ thanks man appreciate the tip
Now...finally an update worth posting...i know i havent kept up with HT at all mainly because there has been absolutely no progress made what so ever...until NOW!!!
I got the car back from paint today, it could use a lil bit of detailing and the inside needs to be recleaned but besides that shes looking purdy
Heres a few quick shots i took when i got her home. I started putting the lights and grill and H emblem back on her but thats about it for now. I still have to get someone to come replace the windsheild, and after that ill be ready to get ins and tags on her so she can be takin somewhere to get the motor work i done...i know i know i should probably do it myself for cheaper but i just truthfully dont have anytime to work on it and to be honest with you i had even forgotten i had a Honda it had been in the shop so long lol But now im pretty sure it will be road worthy in a few days as long as i can get the lights and lil stuff ready to go

Thank you guys for continuing to look after all this time i promise things will start to speed up now that she is back in my hands

thanks guys appreciate the support...I know its been a while but like i said, this is a slow build.......anyways...
Number one) I have to replace the windsheild and i called the ********* at Safelite and they would like to charge $250 to come out and replace it...but nothing is around the windsheild and i had to tell him a date that i wanted it done so they could come out and do it and also wanted to know who i was insured with...i was like i just want a fawking price quote!!! so im kinda pissed at that, and i dont have the number for anyone else so thats the hold up on getting plates on it.
Update number two) i went out to go start the car yesterday and to my surprise..she didnt make a beep, any kind of noise...battery was dead as a door nail. i charged it the next day and she started right up so no biggy, right? well, when i bought the car the guy said the brake lights stayed on constantly...BUT now they wont turn on...I looked through some threads and looked at the brake light swith and everything looks fine under there (or i have no idea what i am looking at which is probably the case)...so idk what im bout to do with that.
Number three) the transmission is messed up but it is driveable, it just gets stuck in park everytime you park somewhere and have to use the key to get it out...besides that its fine....
Number four) still have to fix the jumpy idle. I checked all vacuum lines and they are good to go but still having the problem. I also asked the guy at East Coast Performance about this and he agreed with the other mechanic saying that the intake gasket could be bad, so i believe as soon as i get insurance on it it will be taken to them and they can play with it...
Also, i havent checked on HT or HS yet but i am having a God awful time finding some amber corner lights for this thing, ebay has the passenger side, and the guy at ECP told me to look on the internet for them cause no shop would sell em....SOOOO i aint having any luck there...
AND on a side note.....My silverado is a 4.8l 292 with an Airaid cold air intake, Diablosport Predator, and Gibson side exhaust. When i went to ECP and was asking the guy about the honda i said now on another continent....01 1500 with blah blah blah...what else could i do to it without going boost or breaking into the internals? He was like you could always do NOS.......So, $675 installed is the price quote he gave me on that so when i get to where i can and have another car to dick around in until i can get the Chevy in the shop, Im getting on the bottle :D
