SI to ZC wiring
hey guys i have a 89 crx si and it seems like somthing not hooked up right. Does anyone have a SI to ZC wiring diagram?? and is there any wiring mods i have to do besides the dizzy??
Ok so I assume that your talking about a DOHC zc (not a sohc zc its the same as a
d16a6 wiring wise). The only wiring change is the dizzy. The legit way to do it would be to get the dizzy adapter (si 2 zc) but I just went to the junk yard stole a si clip and repined it myself. And just match the colors the only one that you could possibly get wrong is the 2 white wires(one with the red line thats never there) and it wont start if they are switched.

Ok so the integra distributor should have 5 wires and a square plug and those should match 5 of the wires on your si plug. Then you should have two wires left over(on your si plug) I believe blue/green and blue/yellow and those go on the exhaust cam sensor. So I just took the square plug on the tegy distributor took the pins out and put them into an si round plug, and all you have to do is get the 2 wires out to the cam sensor.
thats what everyone was saying but the dizzy i got was the right one but the wires are different. from my harness i got a thin white, thick white, orange, white with blue, orange with blue, blue and blue green and from the dizzy they are white, orange, yellow with green, blue and blue yellow.
Well since you still haven't said that you have a jdm DOHC zc, i'm assuming that you do. And what exactly does your distributor say on it? It should be a TD03U for a 1988-89 acura integra. And its should have 5 wires (thin white, thick white, orange, orange/blue and white/blue). Then the other two on your si plug are blue/green and blue yellow

i can unplug the 2 going to the exaust cam and two from the plug and it doesnt change the way its running. thats why i think they arnt plugged right. I think the wire colors dont match because its a aftermarket dizzy.
here follow this:
1. You will need to swap your SI engine wiring harness onto the DOHC ZC engine.
2. Before you remove the harness from the Si engine, label both sides of all connectors so that you will know what goes where on the ZC engine. Use a small piece of masking tape on each side of the connector and using a felt tip pen, write a different number on each connector with the same number occurring on each half of each connector. Where connectors just plug onto a sensor, wrap one piece of the tape around the sensor itself and number it. Unless indicated below, all connectors and sensors are in the same location on both engines. By marking where the connectors are located, you eliminate any chance of plugging the wrong connector into a sensor when you install the harness on the ZC engine.
3. Distributor wiring – The SI engine harness has a round 7-wire connector at the distributor. The DOHC ZC distributor has a square 5-wire connector. You will need to swap a 5-wire square connector onto the SI harness. Usually the harness that comes with the DOHC ZC engine will have the connector you need plugged into the distributor. If it is not there, you can get one from any 88-91 CRX DX, 88-91 Civic STD, DX or LX or 88-89 Acura Integra from a salvage yard.
4. When replacing the connector, match the wire colors on the harness side with the wires in the connector on the DOHC ZC distributor. You will have (5) matching wires. The wire colors are White – Orange – White – White with Blue stripe and Orange with Blue stripe. You will have (2) wires left over on the engine harness. There will be a Blue with Green stripe and a Blue with Yellow stripe.
5. You may have noticed that there are 2 white wires in the connectors. To make sure you don’t mix them up, take a marker (Sharpie, felt-tip, etc.) and mark the ones for the igniter. The white wires for the igniter are located as shown in the picture:
( : )bottom dot is igniter wire and its located in the center of the dist.plug on the si/hf/ex
[ :] and same here except its located in the right lower side for the zc/dx/std/lx dist.plug
(sorry had this on a word document and i cant upload the picture hope this helps)
6. Connect a short length of wire to each of the leftover wires and extend them to the Green connector on the CYLinder Position Sensor, which is on the end of the exhaust camshaft, again matching the wires color for color.
7. For the 89-91 Si (not 88) your engine harness will have one connector left over which isn’t used on the ZC. It is the connector for the Fast Idle Control Valve on the back of the Si intake manifold on the driver’s side.

the igniter wire is the white wire on the end of the middle row of 4 wires - opposite end from the empty pin - would be the one with the broken insulation in your picture - the igniter wire on your distributor should be yellow with green stripe

code 9 is for the cylinder sensor on the end of the exhaust camshaft - usually means you have the sensor wires switched or have another problem with the sensor wiring - could also be incorrect exhaust camshaft timing
sorry bro not trying to thread jack but im having the same exact problem
im throwing a code 9 and my 1st cylinder is misfiring
switched wiring many times and even switched the sensor like 3 times
also dizzy is new
i have a 2nd gen dohc zc
if anyone knows please help
