Default a/c compressor question (98 civic)

i put a 90 civic a/c compressor into my 98 civic, and it doesnt work. later i found out r-12 compressors wouldnt work on the r-134 systems. i even filled up free-on into it.

my question is, can someone tell me if i messed up my system already or is it fine?

i like to get the right compressor if my a/c system still working.

I think you are okay by just replacing the compressor with the correct one.

When done, be sure to add the proper amount of oil, replace the receiver/dryer, place the system under deep vacuum and then leak test, and then recharge with the proper weight of R134a.
