Hi, I don't know where this goes, but my friend has a 2001 V6 Passport AWD (automatic) that has a bit of an ignition problem.

Basically, the keys cannot be turned from the ACCESSORY to OFF position even if the gear selector is in PARK and the e-brake is pulled.

He says it has happened before, and the previous time he didn't drive the car for 2 days and on the 2nd day the key could be turned to OFF.

What could be causing this? Is there an quicker and surer fix than waiting 2 days?

 

Bump. The key eventually came out, he says. But I'm leaving this up for a more permanent fix.

 

Try a different key. Use a graphite lube. Perhaps a faulty ignition switch. Many Hondas had ignition switch issues and even recalls.
