Default 99 civic ex auto problems wont go in gear

k so my stupid tranny stopped going into gear on my way home and no matter how many times I tried to restart it all it would do is rev up. The very next day i went out and it will go...it was jumpy but it moved. after a few times going back and fourth the same crap all it will do is rev and make a grinding/humming noise?

I believe that it could be the sylinoid's on the tranny cause it doesn't seem to be something wrong macanicly cause it wouldn't move at all.

Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

110 view's....yet nothing. I really don't want to buy a new transmission, or put it in the shop considering this one still drives! Knowing my luck it's something small and simple, I just have to find out what it is. I didn't get my check today so I couldn't try out the solenoids. hopefully tomorrow.

Dude, if it's grinding and humming, it's not the solenoids. When automatic transmissions fail it's very common for them to work for 10 minutes or so when the fluid is cold and then start slipping when they warm up. Nothing here suggests bad solenoids, even if they were bad depending on which one was bad you'd either have issues with the transmission not shifting properly (generally not shifting into a particular gear or being stuck in a certain gear. Or the torque converter wont lock up on the highyway in overdrive. But they absolutely will not cause it to do what it's doing. I'm not trying to be a dick, just trying to keep you from wasting money on things that aren't going to help you.

cool I really liked that tranny when I had that car. How can I identify a si tranny, are there any codes on them somewhere that I can look for? I called my local lkq and they sell tranny's for 150.00, intake manifold's for like 30.00, the pedal assembly for about 30 or 40 bucks as well! Oh and the slave master cylinder with slave cylinder is only 15 bucks! I can't wait to go hunting for parts!

Out of the three lkq's in the Houston area I shouldn't have any problems finding the parts too.

EX transmissions are stamped B000 around the passenger's side axle hole. (be careful because HXs are too) other transmissions are stamped A000.

Same thing as far as the '92 - '95 Si's went, B000 The '99 - '00 Si's had a B16 and use a B-series tranny. (unless you happen to be in Canada)
