Default I just painted my 6th Gen Civic headlights: Learn what NOT to do here!

I thought I could help some people out by telling them what you can/cannot do...

I heated mine for 8 minutes at 250 in the oven:

When praying them apart, you'll need to cut the glue **** apart, do NOT use an expensive item, because the sealant WILL get stuck on it, and it's a bitch to get off.

Do NOT get that glue **** ANYWHERE ELSE!! Once it dries it's on there for good. I got it on a hot-mitt, and it's ruined now.

When painting: Do NOT hold the can above the lights, because it will drip when it gets too much, I got drips onto mine and they are a bitch to get out. You basically have to put lots more coats over them.

Also, don't loose one of the 4 bolts that comes inside the headlights. I already lost one cause I'm a jackass.

Anyone else have any tips?

Do a good job masking. Use scissors to cut the masking tape to fit in little corner areas..

Mine went 100% perfect. So did my girlfriends..

Yes, that would be me. Here on Honda-Tech, I've never recieved such a reply from anyone and then I read one of my threads and I see your smart reply. Like I said before, it's people like you who make Honda-Tech look bad. Talking your talk over the internet and having nothing to back it up. I'm simply just telling you, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all. It just makes you seem immature as if you weren't already. I dug up this post because I wanted to see how smart you really are since you had that nice comment about my thread. And what do I run accross? Seems like you're a waste of life period.

Yes, you're correct again. Wow you deserve a big cookie for that one. Isn't it annying when you're just trying to share something and some guy just comes and ruins it? I'm sure NOW you know how it feels. Just like me. I'm just a guy trying to share something to the world, give some people a little joke, then you and your smart mouth jump out of your *** and give my little thread a smart *** comment. Sorry for trying to cheer people up.

And to my thread, I'm sorry if I have offended you in any way. I had no idea that you were gay.

Heres a good tip!!! I put "plastics" into my oven before.

DO NOT PUT YOUR HEADLIGHTS INTO THE OVEN!!

It is better to use a good heat gun. The kind that window tinters use. I've done 2 ek headlights, 1 Gen2 integra one-piecers, and 2 Gen2 tail lights. Please guys, do not risk warping or melting your lenses and housings; its not a pretty site after.

It just takes a good 5 minutes of heating the adhesive. The adhesive should now have a consistency of those "gummi" erasers. Pry lenses off. The good thing about it is you can just heat the adhesive on both lense and housing, and put them back together as if it were stock.

Also make sure you prep the surface to be painted. If your lazy like me, just wipe the housings with a degreaser (acetone or alcohol), tape off, and squirt away. OR scuff the housings lightly with 800 grit, degreaser surface, tape off, and squirt away.

Finally, have good ventilation. I can't recall how many times I would get really light headed during and after painting. I smoke cigarettes, and being the fool I am, I once was smoking while painting headlights. Guess what, I nearly burnt my eyebrows off...hahahahha. True story....

And they lived happily ever after....blah.
