Transmission heading out the door?
I just picked up another Integra about 2 weeks ago, (it's a 5 speed) and there is a noise coming from the passenger side that sounds like it could either be the TOB or the input shaft. It almost sounds like a rattle in the trans. All gears work fine, noise is only during driving and slight noise when I'm in neutral and not pushing the clutch in. As soon as I push the clutch in, noise goes away which makes me thing it could be the TOB. I had a issue with the Throw out bearing in another Integra and it sounded nothing like this.
Any suggestions would ne great
Thanks!

That's what I was thinking too, any idea how long those bearings would last for? I don't beat on the car alot, it's just a DD. I have a spare trans laying around, but dont have the time to do it right now
they can make noise for 10 miles or 10,000 miles before exploding.
If you have to continue driving it, no beating on it and a slight overfill on the fluid (10w30) night help it last longer.
Easy for someone like me who has done a few hundred Honda trannys, where you located?
Also plan on replacing the clutch while the tranny is off. OEM B clutches like to spit springs at 60-80k miles even though there is plenty of meat left on the disc.

yeah i was going to do the clutch anyways. i actually have a spare trans and clutch ready to go in when this goes, i don't want to do it, until it blows. i don't mind the noise at the moment. I'm located in PA (Lansdale)
Bear in mind that at that point you've gone from a simple (and cheap) bearing replacement into basically having a parts transmission depending on just what happens when it does fly apart. It doesn't matter much with a base model D-series since the transmissions are next to worthless, but B-series trannys are still worth decent money.
i just figured since whether i swap the other trans out, or do the input shalf bearing, the trans needs to come out. i know this other trans is in good condition so i think I'm going to just swap the trans. Last thing i want to do is split the case do the bearing, and put it back together and still have an issue. do you know what i mean?

I would also look into freshening up the spare trans just so you don't waste time swapping transmissions and being in the same situation...just an idea? Also the longer you wait the more damage that is being done. When a bearing is bad..its loosing its ability to precisely spin the shafts. That can lead to gear pattern wear and possibly failure. As stated above..B-series trans still hold some value keep it in good shape and you will have a few hundred bucks that you can put in your pocket later versus having it as a boat anchor
Yeah I def. Understand what your saying about refreshing the spare trans. Lucky this trans came off a buddy's Integra that immediately did a k swap. The person that had the car before them was in their mid 80's
Doesn't mean a thing as far as bearings go. Even gears and syncros. You can drive a car easy and still destroy clutches and transmissions if you don't know what you're doing.
