Default Neuspeed 4 point strut bar on a 96-00 civic. Anyone used it?

As the title says, I am wondering if anyone has used this bar on a 96-00?

I know about strut bars, and I know people love to argue on how affective they are and aren't.
But after searching around for a while I have found a few reviews on them, and they were all positive. But, there were none for the 96-00.

So my question is have you used it?
OR, what is your opinon on the effectiveness of the bar on this chassis?

I manily ask because a BNIB popped up locally for a really good price, and I am interested in buying it.

Thanks guys!

He asking $75, but I am going to try and talk him down a little bit.

I looked around and it would run about $160 shipped.

I thought about that, that and the fact I still have the DX mani. Not sure if the bar will contact the intake box.

Yep, Si front and rear.

I just thought of this. If he will go lower on the price, buy and it run it for a bit, and sell for the same amount if it doesn't work out? Or more?
hmmmm

I use it brother, mine is a swift bar (found new for $60)...but you get the point. You probably stumbled across one of my threads if I had to guess. Tyson and Patrick recommended it over all the other bars on the market, so I went with it.

I know that you question specifically about the Civic, but I purchased the Civic specific bar for my DB. Although it was a pain in the *** as far as install the end results showed improvement in chassis flex for sure, but I've got a DB so maybe that's why the improvement was heavy. It wasn't a $160 improvement, but totally worth it for a sub $100 improvement.

I basically did EXACTLY what your idea is; sucked it up, purchased it...and then decided I'd turn it if it didn't work. In my case it did, when the bar was not on the car I was thinking "there is now way in hell" It comes in close contact w/the stock box, but fit exact.

The Swift and Nuespeed were identical so I decided to take the cheaper route.

Before paint, test fit:

After paint, fitted:

I took off the stock GSR and replaced it with the swift bar. I use it, think it's fantastic if it can be had for the right price. Just my $.02 for what its worth.

GL as always bud.

Thank you sir!

The only thing I am a little uneasy about is the fact on your car they bolt to the UCA bolts, on mine they simple bolt threw 2 other holes in the shock tower.

On my car it looks to bolt to the same place, I just don't have UCA's sitting there.

I wish tyson or pat would post. lol

the deal fell through, the bar was scratched to ****, and was over 300 miles away from where he said it was.

BUTTTT, I found one on here, about a hour from me. I am pm'ing him now!

That was the first thing that I thought of when I saw the thread title. Neuspeed never technically made one for the 96-00 afaik. I am, however, interested to see what you find when you pop those plugs out of your towers. I've never snooped around in there, always wondered if it still contained the reinforcement. You could always use some thread-serts and just bolt it on, thats what I did for the Benen bar on my 94.

Hmm. You know I haven't even looked in there either. lol

However, judging by their position the shocks will have to come out to gain access to them.

The guy PM'd me back, and I am going to try and get it tonight. I'll post what ever I figure out.

I bought the bar!

First thought, It won't fit with the DX intake box. oh well

Please excuse the poor quality picture. I've been having issues with my camera.

I'll need to find some hardware to install it, but I am going to do my best to have it tommorow morning/afternoon!

Ran into a bit of a road block, while loooking at it.

I poped off the rubber caps covering the top holes, and one of the lower ones. (inside the hole) And all I can see is my UCA sitting there taking up all of the space!

I am going to have to get creative with the bolts, they'll have to be pretty long, but not too long. lol

IF the UCA's need to be dropped, it wont be happening tomorow, due to my work schedule.
but I am going to get down there and take a look at what's going on.

You should look into threaded rivets.

I may have to.

On a side note, It does look like the area it's going into has some strength to it.

But I guess only time will tell what happens.

Thankfully theres a hardware store about a 5 minute walk froom my house, so multiple trips wont be a problem. lol

Hope it all works out, sounds like you got a killer deal.

No matter which way you look at it you'll end up on top if the install doesn't work for whatever reason, and that's always a bonus. Easy re-sale on a product like that.

I've got about 3 or 4 quality parts in my garage that I purchased not knowing any better, they didn't work and now I cant find a home for them because there seems to be no demand. Money NOT well spent. Should have done more research prior to pulling the trigger.

Yea, that is kind of what I was thinking. I should have no problem making my money back, if I don't want to use it.

I have done it to! Adventually I was able to sell the parts. Just takes time.

my buddy has a brand new set of CTR headlights. Bought for $780 something, plus shipping. Wrecked car, now he can't see them becuase no will pay that much.lol

So I finaly got under there, and started to look around. At ride height (lca jacked up) there is almost no room there, and I beging to worry the uca's may contact what ever is sitting in there.

I am going to look into suggestion, and see what I can find. I still have a few idea's rolling around in my head.

if anyone want's I'll try to snap some pictures to show what I am looking at.

4 trips later, I think I finaly found a size of bolt that will fit and work. At right height, it just bearly clears, but I can't go any shorter. This size will have to do.lol

Now I just need to think If i want to go back for a 5th time and exchange the bolts/nuts I just bought for alan head bolts in metric, instead of just regular SAE bolts/luck nuts.

I have SO many choices lol

It's on! And what a bitch it was to get it on!!

I haven't driven the car yet, but I am going to soon, and hopefully I'll be able to find some corners that aren't filled with people after I get off work.

I almost said **** it, and yanked the UCA's.

But I was finaly able to get it. Now I just have few little issues to deal with.

Bar hits intake tube, and rubs horribly.

Either my shocks are squeaking like crazy, and the bolts I used are rubbing on the uca's.

BUT, it's not all for noithing. I haven't been able to really push the car hard, but at about 30 ish and a hard corner the front end felt much tighter.

I am actually quite suprised. I cannot wait to get the car out and really push it
