Default 3 Groove Alternator Pulley for D15B Honda Civic Engine

Please tell me how I can find the part number, or an equivalent part, of a 3 groove alternator pulley that will match with a D15B engine from Japan.

After my 1992 Honda Civic LX's engine was replaced with a D15B engine from Japan, my alternator belt started to fray.

I was told my alternator should have a 3 groove pulley instead of the 2 groove pulley it currently has.

A Japanese engine swap place told me they could swap out the alternator pulley if I tipped them, otherwise I'll have to replace the alternator ($275 quote).

you could just run a 88-91 belt as they are a 2 rib.

Sorry, Im not sure I understand.

The mechanic said my belt would keep breaking unless I replace the alternator or the alternator's pulley, if I understood him correctly. And he said I needed a "3 tooth" belt", (not 2).

So are we referring to the same thing when we say ribs/teeth/grooves? And do you mean the 88-91 CRX?

oh do you have a different number of ribs (teeth) on your crank pulley then your alt? If so then yes you may have to change the pulley on the alt to match the one on the crank. As far as I know you can just change the pulley on the alt with no issues. If your crank pulley has 3 ribs you need an alt pulley from a 92-95 civic, if it has 2 you need one from a 88-91 civic or crx.

Sorry to keep bothering you, but do you know exactly which 88-91 civics have that 2 rib belt you refer to?

Because someone on another forum said "I know that an OBD0 (88-91) Civic Alternator has a 3 rib pulley. I actually just bought one about 2 weeks ago.", so I guess you guys are referring to different models.

almost all 88-91s should be a 2 rib. I know my 88 crx and 89 std hatchback both are.
