the doors are a great location. just need spacers depending on the depth of the car. you can also buy prefabbed kick panels i believe which put the speakers at the far corners of the floor in front. you dont have a 1000 watt amp, i regretfully must inform you.

i personally don't amp my speakers, just run mids and highs through them. sub handles all the lows.
yeah i was thinking about doing a fiberglass enclosure where like the gathers pods would go because my hatch corner plastics are in rough shape anyway ....and i was thinking kick panels for the other two ...but figured i'd see if anyone else had any better ideas first
im not claiming its 1000w im not retarded...thats just what its rated at when bridged its actually like 160X4 rms

yeah i agree with Todd00.... get rid of the 6x9 and get some 6.5....6.5 in the rears are perfect! The rear speaker pods are slightly slanted so the sounds bounces off the glass for better hearing..... and for the fronts, if u have usdm doors, lots of 6.5 fit well... but if u got jdm doors, you dont have much depth to work with. I did 5.25 speakers with a 1" spacer

I can recommend this idea and you can take it as far as you want. I currently have Polk Audio 6x9 in the rear and they sound great. I only had to grind down a small piece of plastic about the size of a quarter to get them to fit. So easy I wish I did this years ago.

6x9 definitely sounds good! but there's no way you're going to put in some 6x9 without doing some cutting and custom fitting for it to even sit right.... its just all on personal preference, there's no right or wrong.
When I was 16 and I didn't have a cargo cover, I made my own out of a thick piece of wood. I then proceeded to cut holes for 2 6x9 speakers in that cover. Didn't even need a sub, but I had one anyways. It sounded good. I covered the wood in some carpet too. I had little-to-none for woodshop experience, but it turned out better than I could have imagined. If you want 6x9's, do that. That way you're not ruining a good cargo cover.
yeah my big thing is not hacking up my fully functional near pristine cargo cover...but like i said earlier the corner plastics that the cover mounts to have already been hacked once so i figure ill just refresh those into functional speaker pods ...still stumped on what to do with the other two though i already have 5.25 3 ways in my doors along with tweeters installed by the previous owner
started building the rear pods yesterday....im using the grilles that came with the speakers as the mounts ....will post pics and possibly a write up when done
if you're going to add subs, just get a good set of 5.25 component sets in the doors..... but if you're not going to add subs, get a good set of 6.50 components so you can get some good lows outta of it.... thats just my opinion.
im currently working on my audio set up too.... i will post pics sometime at the end of this week after i layout all the wires and put my new molded carpet

so a little update ive got the passenger side fiberglassed in and have got most of the general shaping done....hopefully tonight i can start feathering and finish sanding maybe in primer by the weekend
ok so i promised you all pics and a possible write up...heres a brief rundown ill do a more thorough write up when i finish the driver's side and get them painted
so first off youve gotta have an idea of what you want ...i wanted 6.5" speakers in the rear but didnt want to hack up my cargo tray... so what to do ?

at this point im sure youre asking why i cut so much off and why the holes not perfectly round....thats because the speaker needs to load through the bottom

once that was all squared away its time to glass...i used tape and some coat hangers to hold the grill in place while i applied the first bits of cloth
