oil drain plug question?

Default oil drain plug question?

so i went to change my oil and say that my dx doesnt have a normal drain plug its like a butterfly thing with a screw and seal. Can i just buy a actual drain plug or will i need to get a whole new pan.

use your stock drain plug and pick up a new crush washer from vatozone...!!!

Thats called a butterfly nut, probably put in because the threads in the pan have been striped out you can get over sized self taping plugs if thats the case.

well its super annoying and i tighten it down and it still leaks and in the matter of 24 hours im pretty sure it dumped most of my oil change in my driveway not to happy about wasting the money on changing the oil.....

same here. even after i changed it to oversized it still leaks. not as much though so you should try that.

you just took the oil butterfly thing out and swaped it? Where did you get the oversized one ? Price? lol sorry for asking so many questions

Probly stripped so just go to the junkyard n grab a oil pan. That's a good reason y it usese the butterfly one as crxsipower mentioned.

when you say butterfly thing, do you mean one thats rubber that expands as you tighten it? I had one and it lasted one day, fell off as i got home and made a HUGE spill on the driveway.
i got the oversize from autozone. it was a while back. could be anything from $3-10.
