Nitto NT-01. Best bang for the buck IMO. NT01 and RA1 are the same compound, just different tread pattern and different name.

The problem with the NT01 os that they are assymetrical...
You can almost double the use using the RA1 by switching side and side

In another thread they mention the Kumho SX. Thats what I will be purchasing as soon as I find a cheap set of track wheels.

kumho xs are good for the price, I paid $108 a tire through tirerack plus a $50 gift card. BTW best and not too pricey don't go together.

People... if you're going to post up something that is clearly already available on the forums... at least put some effort into it!

Depends on size, 3 good "bang for the buck" street/track tires in 15" are Falken Azenis, Kumho XS (205/50R15) and Hankook R-S3 (225/45R15). Then there are the DOT comp tires mentioned above: Toyo RA-1, Nitto NT-01, Toyo R1R which are all very similar. DO NOT under any circumstances buy Toyo R888, those tires suck so bad that Toyo had to start making the RA-1 again because Spec Miata and Honda Challenge were so pissed about how much the R888 sucked.

that street tire(140+) recommendation is off pretty bad.

140+:
rs3.
re11.
star spec.
r1r.
ad08. putting this in because of what i have seen. i don't know anyone personally but figured i would toss it out there.
615k.

r comps:
given the question, we might as well not go there.

I said street/track tire, meaning double duty. Anything with a treadwear rating higher than 140-180 will get sheered off on the track. All the tires I have mentioned are the closest you can get to track tire without breaking the bank. So what are you talking about?

you must be confused on "road racing" first off. second off you mentioned the r1r with the ra1 and the nt01..hmmmm.

anyways you mentioned the 615 which i am assuming you are talking about the new k model. well you can get that at discount tire for 130/per tire in a 205/50/15. you can get the re11 from tire rack for 138/per tire in the same size. the xs has a lower treadwear rating than the star spec but i see the star spec used more often on the track than i do the xs. the price point on those through tire rack are like 115/per star spec and 105/per xs in the 205 size. the rs3 is a very good tire for the money but the size might be too much for some and also the availability. i think their release date is the end of this month, so that makes what 2 months without any tires available. guess the tires "bang for their buck" isn't good if you can't purchase them. the r1r can be found in a 205/50/15 for 125/ea. so you are looking at a maximum difference of around 30 dollars per tire. that would equal 120 dollars for a set, if that is breaking the bank then work some ot.
