you can even use any hydro gears in a 92-93 (not 90-91) cable transmission housing

On the casings.... not all are the same, but the ones you're likely to come acrossed will undoubtedly all be the interchangeable.

Gears are different though.

you have to make sure you have the right year transmission. if your b16 transmission is a 90-91 (S1 J1 A1) then you have to get another 90-91 transmission. if your transmission is a ys1 (92-93) then you can swap between any 92+ b series transmission. you cant put 90-91 guts in a 92+ or vise versa

My question is what caused the case to break to begin with?

Im a manual trans expert, i dont understand how you can break the case by hitting a bump, unless your saying it hit the road and split it open, then that woud make sense.
Its really not a job for an average backyard wrench to change internals and cases on a trans, though hondas are fairly simple. just pay very close attention. If youve never been inside of a trans before.. good luck. I do alot on the side out of my garage, but cali is a little too far from ohio lol
PM me if you need any advice once you get that far with it.

A bad angle on a cv-axle will do it. Is your car lowered (slammed)?

I have an extra case... but the side that the passenger axle goes into. Is that what you need? Its from a 90 ls trans.
