Default bad springs or bad shocks?

i have koni yellows and skunk2 lowering springs as a set.
i had weapon r coilover sleeves on them before and they rode TERRIBLE.
so, i found some used skunk2 springs for 90 and grabbed them.

every bump i hit, i cringe. my ride feels like i have no suspension at all.
i took the suspensions apart to see if my shocks were blown, but they were fine... no leaks, shaft rebounded fine. tried different settings, but car still rode weird. can it be my springs? i'm thinking of getting ground controls, but i want to be sure before i fork over 300 plus x__x;

What are the spring rates for the springs? You can't just buy springs without knowing what spring rate you need/are getting.

this is probably what's going on here. Otherwise you've probably got a bushing/bushings that are shot, broken/bent suspension component.

It's unlikely the konis are blown, but I it could happen. If your car is dumped, your rates are probaly too soft and you're bottoming out the shocks or banging suspension components around as is the norm with dumped cars.

my car isn't dumped. my brother had the skunk2 springs with stock shocks and that actually rode smooth, i have the same except with konis and it rides terrible. but, then again can shot tie rod ends and shot a arms (upper control arm) ball joints be a factor?

Yes it could be the bad steering that's the problem. I know a friend had sk2's and hated the hard ride, and that was 200 miles with stock shocks.

6 years ago when I "dumped" my EF (illuminas and ebay coilovers 450/350), it was like a rock. Before I corrected the massive toe-out that happens when you lower it, every large bump would be like a 2-ton hammer to the car. After an alignment, it wasn't nearly as bad (but still hard).

could you get a side pic of the car?

did you make sure that the full weight of the car was on the shocks before torquing all the bolts?

this is coming from a guy that has koni yellows/ skunk2 coilovers. my car rides fine, after i loosened a few bolts, and re torqued them after the full weight of the car was on the shocks. same with the sway bars.

youre probably low with skunk2 springs.

and yes, you likely have shot steering rack and rod ends that cause so much play that is whats crashing.

and i would double check if everything is properly installed and working.
