Default Help! stripped brake fluid line!

Hello guys just wondering if there is some kind of way of taking the brake line, connected to brake master cylinder. Im trying to change the master cylinder, and notice one of the 10mm bolt that connects on the master cylinder is stripped out... I tried taking it off with 10mm wrench and vice grip and it wont come off. Please help i need the car and im hella scared to drive it with a messed up brake system.

I had the same problem with my brake line going out of the proportioning valve...it was so tight I managed to round it right off. You are supposed to use a "flare nut" wrench which wraps around the nut further, but it was still too tight and rounded off.

So I went to home depot and got these special Groove Lock pliers.

They worked really well because of the way the teeth point, as you pull the teeth dig in deeper. I highly recommend them. When it finally loosens you will hear a satisfying click

you can get that tool, or something really similar at Sears. its originally a german brand called knipex.

but REALLY, you made a huge mistake not using a flare nut wrench. i hope you learned your lesson and hopefully some other noob reads this and not even think about attempting to loosen a brake line without a flare nut wrench.

I agree. That tool was a last resort for me, always use a flare nut wrench on brake fittings. But as a last resort, it works very well. Much better than vise grips, which is probably the most common last resort.
