h22 in cb7, can i re-ring/piston swap with motor in car?
i have a h22a4 in a cb7 and either have shot rings or broke ringlands. if the cylinder walls are good can i remove pistons with motor in the car? i have done it with with b series but just wanted to make sure balance shaft or nothing else would be in the way. i obviously plan on removing the head etc. i just dont want to have to pull the motor if i dont have to, i am one person and do most of my work alone and i can remove a head easier than removing the motor by myself. thanks for any advice.
cool thanks, the only thing idk about is balance shaft, this is the first h22 i wqill be opening and i did not know if it somehow was in way and would not allow to push up pistons. i have done it a few times with b series in eg/ek's.
Balance shafts are not in the way. This can be done pretty much the same as a B series.
However, as you mentioned, if it is your cylinder walls/hone. Honing an H22 is not something you can do on your own with a ball hone with the block in the chassis.
Fingers crossed that your issue isn't cylinder wall wear/damage.
