Default do i need to tune?

i am about to install
4-2-1 dc sport headers+ ws2 cat back + intake, do i need to chip or tune my car once i add these things? and whats the best most inexpensive chip?
i hear that my mpg will go down, after i add exhaust and intake, if i tune/chip the car will it go back to normal or HOPEFULLY BETTER MPG?
last question does anyone know how much hp i get to the wheels stock?

2001 accord lx 4dr 4cyl 2.3L f23a1

lol No. No tune needed.

Your MPG will increase as long as your driving habits don't change.

If you search, you'll find plenty of other information that will back up 19Accord97's post.

You are far from the first person to ask about this.

FYI, there are no "chips" for Honda's like with Volkswagen's, Audi's, etc. You can chip a Honda ECU, but explaining it is a bit out of scope for this thread. You can read more in the Engine Management and Tuning sub-forum.

Stock whp numbers are nothing to look at so I wouldn't worry about it. Probably in the 110-120 area for the manual trans depending on the car. For an auto you are looking at a bit less.

But if you must know... I'm sure you could search and find someone who has dyno'd their stock F23a1. AFAccord might have done a baseline for his all-motor build, but I don't remember.

With your bolt-ons, you'll gain a few whp.

Good luck and have fun with it!

Like others said, no tuning needed; unless, you have high lift cam, or some kind of pistons.

Get a converter that matches the exhaust that you are putting on the car.

Also make sure that all of the flanges are the same ID. For instance, if the flange on the header is 1.75" inside diameter and the rest of your exhaust is 2". I would suggest to have the header flange cut off and swapped with a 2" I.D. flange. Most any exhaust shop should be able to do that easy enough.

Before you do this kinda thing you will want to know weather or not you will have to pass emissions where you live.

If you alter your system too much, you'll pay for it later. They'll git ya.

i spoke to a guy who owns a tunning shop and he said that tunning my car would make it more efficient but would be dangerous for my auto-tranny and would cost me around 500$

It wouldn't be dangerous for your auto-tranny with just bolt-ons. It would, however, be impossible with that equipment. You can't tune like that with an automatic.

Not to mention it's worthless with only bolt-ons (the stock ECU can compensate for that minor of a change) as extralargenog was alluding to.

Did all those mods to my f23 and no tune was needed. The fuel economy never got worse. In florida there is no emissions so got a high flow cat.
