Alright, here is my story / first post. Bought a 88 Civic DX Hatchback 1.5L w/ Dual Point Fuel Injection... to use as a daily driver / commuter while my other toy is being fixed. The kid I got it from said he got it running after it had been sitting for 6 years.

That said, I bought the car, drove it 45 miles home without an issue. Couple of days later, and only about 40 miles more the car started "chugging"... that's the best way to describe it. BUT only will do it if the car is warm. And it gets worse and worse until the car either dies or cools off.

Here is what I have done to troubleshoot the car: replaced the spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, plug wires, new battery, ran some oil additives and fuel injector cleaner, replaced valve cover gasket (not necessarily a problem, but it leaked) and as of yesterday, I drained the gas... which now has a red tint to it (assuming rust). After I drained the tank, I put 4 gallons of 87 in it and drove it around for about 10 miles and it started doing it again.

I am left to change out the fuel pump, which I picked up today... unless someone can point me to something I am missing.

 

Try changing the fuel filter?
