Default Race header help

Ok so my buddy had lots of mods done to his Si. Long story short he put a small crack in his header do to his suspension being so tight. He welded the small fracture shut and said it's mine. So my question is can I put it on my car and not worry? I know my old Rsx required at least mount inserts to keep the header from flexing and breaking. Is it the same for si's? Also since it's welded it now stronger in that place so if it would flex does that mean it could possibly rip my studs from the header to the block out? THIS is my BIGGEST concern. Thanks for the input. Just started modding my Si. This wknd it gets ingen Sri, skunk 2 cat back, flash pro, and maybe header.

What header is it? Does it have a flex pipe or donut gasket+spring bolts? I suggest getting motor mounts or Window Weld them for any race header anyways...

lol, its not your suspension, its your engine mounts. But you need to only change the torque mounts. Either the boomba torque mounts or replacing just the rear mount with the hasport mount will work also.

If you want to do the cheap route, you can fill your mounts and make them soild, even a how-to video on skunk2 website.

but your engine is rocking forward and back, and well something has to give.

If welded correctly, that point will be actually stronger. But it will not break at the studs, i would imagine. It would would break at the weakest point, which I would figure another point on the header, and or the bolts where the header attaches to the, test pipe and/or cat.

Don't know the brand but it's a 2 piece header so it has the header to the down pipe. It uses stock springs bolts ect my buddy also added a flex pipe so will I need mounts?

any car with a header really needs the boomba torque mounts, the stock engine rocks alot on it own. I know people who drive their car hard and shift hard, their engine would hit the back firewall due to stress on the stock torque mounts.

Again you need the boomba TORQUE mounts and/or just the one hasport lower mount, or fill your stock mounts

You do not need engine mounts. This will also fix your problem but is over kill, If you make your engine rigid enough yeah it keeps it from moving but you feel everything.
