In My 93 accord, the rpm fluctuates when I start the car and it goes aways after few minutes. Anytime I shift to drive from parking, it goes away.

I talked with dealar, they think I need to replace IACV and cost can be $300.
but from forum discussions, it can be Fast idle control valve(I guess different from IACV) or leak. So I don't want to invest $300 unless I know it is going to fix it.

Can anyone suggest a more specific solution I should try ?

 

Take the screws off the top of the FICV and tighten the wax piece down. Problem solved. Of you can spend 300 on a new IACV that you could off ebay for about 50 bucks, tops.
