Default Throttle Body

So I broke down and took it to the shop. After putting a new check engine light bulb in and 5 codes later - I need a new throttle body. My question is what will work in a 1.6 1993 Honda Del Sol Auto? Does the throttle body have to the exact same, auto, 1993, 1.6, etc?

Thanks in advance

Could I use a throttle body out of a 5 speed 93 civic 1.6 vtec for example?

What codes? If you reset the ECU, do all 5 codes repeat?

I havent actually seen it. I let the shop sink their teeth into it, but there telling me we need to start with a new throttle body, so I'm just see what is compatible. If pulling one from this manual will work or not. and if it has to be from the 93-95 era of civics, del-sols

I'd be concerned that you are replacing a TB for no good reason. Be skeptical about mechanic's diagnoses.

Well I tried self diagnosing to no avail. Its still performing badly, it idles wierd at times, drives fine for about 25 minutes and then starts losing rpm while idling and bogs down during acceleration.

I changed the tps, rerouted the vaccuums, removed I believe all of the extra turbo stuff, new plugs, wires, caps, rotors, and checked the ecu, cleaned the air valve. All of these things didn't help the problem.

That's very unusual for a throttle body to "go out." It's a pretty simple and sturdy engine component.

I appreciate the feedback and concern, however, as I'm not a professional mechanic and was unable to fully fix the car with my own efforts and time invested, the next best thing is to take it to the honda dealership.

So I would appreciate any answer to my actual question regarding compatibility.

D/B/H series throttle bodies are essentially the same. With a few exceptions. It's not so precise as to need the exact engine, but any sided mounted throttle body from roughly the same year civic will work fine.
