Default Rear tire wear

I just picked up a 92 vx civic and the tires were pretty shot. One of the rear tires were extra bad but I figure the front alignment was off and the previous owner just rotated the tires to get some extra life out of them. Well I just got a new set of tires on it this weekend and I noticed tire dust on the same tire that was worn out bad. The extra wear is on the out side of the tire. What can I do to help solve this? Do you think just getting a 4 wheel alignment would take care of it. I am hoping for a solution that I can do in my own garage.

yes, have the alignment shop check the toe. Front toe should be total out ~.03-05. Rear toe should be in ~.03-.05.

You want a hair of toe out in the front to lighten up the steering, and toe in in the rear to promote better turn in and high speed stability.

So there is nothing I can do in my garage to solve this. I was hoping to wait to do an alignment after I did my ball joints.

Replace your ball joints then get it aligned.
