Tranny leak contaminated clutch
two options if you're sure it's not an engine oil leak making its way into the bell-housing from above: either a rear main seal (engine) or input shaft seal (transmission).
i always plan on changing the rear main when i do a clutch job because it's only a $15 and it's pretty easy to get to once all the old clutch parts are out of the way.
the input shaft seal is not so easy... it must be installed from the inside of the case. only a few steps short of a trans rebuild. personally i would want to be 100% sure that was the source of the leak before attempting to repair it.

Usually it's the input shaft seal on the tranny, if the rear main seal leaks it tends to just leak on the back of the flywheel and get flung out of the way. Input shaft seal leaks right on the clutch.
